Chapter_45
Tyler continued to work in the study, focused on his tasks.
After Olivia finished cleaning up in the kitchen, she found herself standing alone in the living room, deep in thought. The house was quiet, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of isolation. The housemaid, noticing her presence, approached her gently. “Ms. Olivia, is everything alright?”
Olivia snapped out of her reverie and gave a small smile. “Oh, yes. I was just thinking. I’m going to take a shower.” She felt a bit lost in the vastness of the house but didn’t want to trouble anyone.
As she entered her room, she briefly glanced at the clothes laid out on the bed. After a moment’s hesitation, she made her way to the bathroom.
When she emerged from the shower, it was already late, and she could hear the house growing still. Tyler was still occupied in his study, and she hadn’t seen him much since dinner. Feeling restless, Olivia waited, hoping for some sign of his presence, but by 10 P.M., the house remained silent.
Tyler, meanwhile, had been caught up in a long meeting and paperwork. As the night wore on, he finally decided to call it a day and headed to his room. When he saw Olivia standing by the door, a little hesitant, he was surprised.
“Olivia?” he asked, his voice calm but tired.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” Olivia said softly, looking up at him with wide eyes.
Tyler gave a quiet sigh. “I’m heading to bed now,” he said, returning his attention to the screen in front of him.
Olivia felt a moment of confusion. She wasn’t sure if he was dismissing her or if she had misunderstood. But she didn’t press the matter further.
“Okay… I’ll head back to my room,” she said quietly, turning to leave.
Before she could fully turn away, Tyler’s voice called out. “Olivia…”
She paused, and without thinking, walked back toward him. There was a moment of silence, and then Tyler looked at her with a more focused expression. “You should get some rest,” he said, his voice softer than before. “Tomorrow is a new day.”
Olivia nodded, unsure of what to say, and turned back to her room.
