Chapter_47
Olivia slowly withdrew her hand, a soft sigh escaping her. “I forgot about it.”
Tyler also pulled his hand back, his tone neutral. “Alright, go to school now.”
“Okay, Tyler,” she replied, her voice quieter now.
She stepped out of the car, keeping her injured finger in view as she adjusted her bag. Tyler drove off after she entered the school, leaving her standing in the quiet of the morning.
As Olivia walked into the school building, she couldn’t shake the feeling of warmth on her wrist where Tyler had held her hand. It was as though his touch had left a lingering impression on her skin, one that she couldn’t easily forget.
Later that afternoon, Olivia decided to skip school with her friend Sophie, reasoning that the day’s classes weren’t particularly important. Instead, they went shopping together, a welcome distraction.
Sophie turned to Olivia, browsing through a rack of dresses. “So, where are you living now? I thought you were staying on campus.”
Olivia sighed, pulling a dress from the rack. “No, I’ve been staying at home lately.”
Sophie raised an eyebrow but didn’t press the issue. “Oh, okay. So, how’s it going?”
As they strolled down the street, Olivia’s eyes drifted to a pharmacy window with a brightly colored poster. Her gaze froze on the words: “Promote ovulation, a helping hand in your pregnancy.”
Sophie, noticing where Olivia’s attention had landed, glanced over at the poster and then back to her friend. “What are you looking at?”
Olivia’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly looked away, panic rising. “Nothing,” she said, trying to sound casual.
Sophie didn’t seem to notice her unease. “Alright then, let’s go check out that store over there! I heard they have new arrivals.”
Olivia allowed herself to be guided along, but as they approached the store, something inside her urged her to leave. She stopped suddenly. “Sophie, I just remembered, there’s something I need to buy. Wait for me here, I’ll be back in a minute.”
Without giving Sophie a chance to ask more, Olivia hurried off, disappearing into the crowd.
Five minutes later, she returned. Sophie was standing in front of the mirror, adjusting her clothes. When Olivia walked back in, Sophie grinned, “What did you get?”
Olivia shook her head, trying to mask her discomfort. “Oh, nothing much. Just some cold medicine.”
Sophie raised her eyebrows. “You have a cold again?”
Olivia quickly tried to divert the conversation. “No, it’s nothing. Go ahead and try on those clothes. I’ll wait for you.”
Back at Sandalwood Palace later that evening, the maid, noticing Olivia’s restlessness, approached her with a kind smile. “Ms. Olivia, just rest for tonight. I don’t need help in the kitchen.”
“Okay,” Olivia responded, though she had been planning to kill some time by offering a hand. Accepting the maid’s refusal, she felt a wave of boredom wash over her. She decided to head upstairs to change.
That evening, the maid had prepared a batch of floral cookies, something Olivia had planned to share with her friends. Fearing she might forget them in the morning rush, the maid called up to her. “Ms. Olivia, I’ve made some floral cookies. Should I put them in your bag for you?”
Still in the process of changing, Olivia called back, “Sure, please put them in my bag.”
The maid entered the room, her eyes landing on Olivia’s bag resting on the couch. As she opened it to place the cookies inside, something unusual caught her eye—an unfamiliar box of medication. She hesitated, her curiosity piqued. “What’s this?”
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a car engine outside. Wondering why Tyler had returned home early that day, she set the box down on the table, deciding to leave the medication for later. With a glance at the door, she walked toward it to see what was going on.
