Chapter 15

Helena’s gaze was icy, her eyes boring into Harrison with a chilling intensity that seemed to freeze the very air in the room.

The temperature in the ward dropped several degrees as she spoke, her voice sharp and unyielding.

Hubert, sensing the presence of his daughter and the imposing figures behind her, straightened up, his confidence growing. He crossed his arms, standing tall as he retorted, “Yes, what kind of explanation are you looking for?”

Harrison met his gaze head-on, his eyes narrowing. “Did you give the agent to Father?”

In the past, Harrison might have faltered when faced with such a crowd, but not today. He stood firm, not backing down. His eyes stayed locked on his older brother as he pressed for an answer.

“I didn’t… Yesterday, during the first half of the night, I… I was playing poker with some of our uncles. I thought Dad would sleep through the night after drinking too much, so… I asked Hannah to take care of him!” Hubert stammered, his face reddening as he avoided Harrison’s gaze.

“Dad, why bother explaining so much? Let’s leave. I want to see who dares stop you now!” Helena’s cold voice cut through the tension. She gave a sweeping glance around the room, her gaze sharp and unflinching. Her bodyguards, a group of formidable Stage Five elites, shifted behind her, their stance brimming with quiet menace.

Helena moved toward Hubert and whispered, “Kai invited us to dinner tonight, so we need to hurry and get ready.”

The overweight woman’s eyes lit up. “Mr. Kai wants to meet us?”

Kai was the eldest son of Jonford’s most influential family, a figure they only ever saw on the television or in online headlines. The opportunity to meet him in person—possibly even share a meal—was an exciting prospect for the entire family.

Hubert’s expression softened as he processed the news. “Well then, Harri, we have something to attend to. We’ll leave first. Since your son-in-law has such remarkable medical skills, we’ll leave Dad in your capable hands.”

He turned without looking back, following his daughter out of the room. The old man had spent all his money securing the Royal Bay villa, and Hubert didn’t care about the family assets anymore—not when he had the rich and influential Kai as a potential son-in-law.

Brian had moved closer to Nash, a smile tugging at his lips. “Young man, did you just perform the Divine Needling Technique?”

Nash casually glanced at Brian, his hands in his pockets, and nodded in response.

Brian’s curiosity deepened. “Are you from Tili Mountain?”

Nash nodded again.

Without warning, Brian dropped to his knees, bowing respectfully, and placed his hands on his chest. “Your disciple, Brian Tanner, pays respects to the grandmaster!”

The room fell into stunned silence.

The renowned Miracle Doctor Brian Tanner, the one who had treated thousands of patients, was now addressing Nash as “Grandmaster”?

“Are you Thomas King’s grand disciple?” Nash asked, his voice low as he looked down at the kneeling figure before him.

Brian’s eyes shimmered with emotion. “Yes, I grew up under Master King’s guidance.”

He took a deep breath, and his voice broke slightly. “Master King’s dying wish was to meet his junior martial brother and his master…”

Nash stepped forward and helped Brian to his feet. “You can rise now.”

He paused, a hint of sorrow in his gaze. “Six years ago, Master took me to visit my eldest martial brother.”

It all clicked into place for Nash. The familiar look in Brian’s eyes, the way he spoke—it had all made sense now.

Six years ago, when Nash’s master had foreseen his eldest martial brother’s passing, he had taken Nash down from the mountain for that final visit. It had been there, in that moment, that the eldest martial brother’s life had come to an end.

Mr. Dean, still in shock, finally recovered from the news. No wonder Nash had such incredible medical skills at such a young age. He was connected to Thomas King, the legendary medical saint who had been revered by all.

Mr. Dean smiled, eager to build a relationship. “I’ve been collecting some rare tea for many years. Why don’t you both join me in my office for a chat?”

Brian nodded in agreement. “The chief of the hospital is known for his tea ceremonies. It must be quite special.”

But Nash shook his head, unyielding. “I don’t have time today. Perhaps another day.”

Mr. Dean’s smile faltered. He, the head of Jonford Hospital, had just invited a medical prodigy to join him for tea, only to be turned down. There was little they could do but accept the rejection gracefully.

Nash moved to Herman’s bedside, beginning a pulse diagnosis.

Hera, still holding her mother’s arm, leaned in. “Mom, do you believe what Uncle said?”

Lauren thought for a moment before replying, “Though your uncle has a poor character, I don’t think he would go so far as to harm his own father.”

Harrison, however, wasn’t so sure. “Could it have been Hannah?”

Lauren glanced at him. “Hannah’s been with the family for over 20 years. She’s always been so reliable. Do you really think she’d dare to poison the old man?”

“That’s true…” Harrison muttered, his expression dark. “But I’ll ask the uncles later. Hubert definitely can’t escape suspicion!”

Lauren smiled faintly, her eyes filled with pride. “You’ve truly impressed me today, Harri.”

Harrison had always been the underdog, bullied by his brother, but today, he had taken action. The punch he’d thrown had been well-earned.

Hera, sensing her parents were lost in conversation, let go of her mother’s arm and walked over to Nash.

Nash had just finished his examination and turned to meet her gaze. Hera’s eyes sparkled as she hesitated for a moment before asking, “Has my grandfather’s cancer really been cured?”

Nash smiled reassuringly. “There shouldn’t be any problem. If you’re not completely confident, you can leave him here for observation for a while.”

Hera met his gaze, her heart racing. “Nash, thank you so much.”

Nash raised an eyebrow teasingly. “Is that all the thanks I get?”

Hera blinked, taken aback, then smiled shyly. “Well then, how about I treat you to a big meal tonight?”

Nash leaned down, his voice barely a whisper. “Can’t I eat you instead?”

His warm breath brushed her ear, and her face flushed bright red. She lowered her head, unable to respond.

Just then, Harrison approached, his face anxious. “Nashy, when will my dad wake up?”

“Probably tomorrow,” Nash replied.

Harrison hesitated. “In that case… should we leave him here at the hospital or take him home?”

Nash thought for a moment. “You should take him home for recovery and also investigate who did this.”

He turned, his gaze sharp. “Hubert is the most suspicious, but something’s off about him. He seemed nervous when I was treating your father, as though he didn’t want me to succeed. But when he denied poisoning him, he seemed too sincere, almost… defensive.”

Harrison frowned. “So you think Hubert didn’t do it himself?”

“I don’t think he had the courage to poison his father directly,” Nash said, his voice steady. “But he definitely wanted your father to die. He found someone else to do it.”

Harrison’s eyes narrowed. “And you think that someone is Hannah?”

Nash’s gaze hardened. “Yes, Hannah is in danger.”
