Chapter 65
The Splendiferous Meadows estate sprawled across dozens of high-rise buildings and a vast expanse of luxurious villas. While not as grand as Royal Bay, property prices had skyrocketed due to Mr. Lee’s presence in the area. His name alone had brought immense prestige to the development, and the Lee family had profited handsomely from it.
Today, the atmosphere at Splendiferous Meadows was electric. The paths were lined with red carpets, each household proudly displayed festive decorations, hot air balloons floated gracefully in the sky, and ribbons fluttered in the breeze. Luxury cars filled the streets, and the prominent figures of Jonford were in abundance.
The Lewis family’s car was parked at the side of the road, and Herman stepped out, his face glowing with excitement. Hubert and Harrison’s families followed suit, joining Herman by his side. The sight before them was magnificent, the entire estate alive with celebration, and the group couldn’t help but be in awe of it all.
For the Lewis family, who were not considered among the wealthiest, this was the pinnacle of honor. Being invited to such an event, favored by Mr. Lee himself, was a moment they would cherish forever.
Hubert, smiling, spoke with anticipation. “Mr. Lee and Mr. Watson are old friends. I bet Mr. Watson will show up tonight!”
Helena, dressed in an elegant gown, glanced over at Hera with a smirk. “Kai just told me that his grandfather is on his way!” she said, her tone dripping with superiority. “He also mentioned that Mr. Lee considers him a god-grandson and visits the Lee family regularly.”
Her words were deliberately aimed at Hera, making it clear that, even if Hera aligned herself with the Drake Group, Kai’s connection with Mr. Lee would give him an undeniable advantage in halting any collaboration.
Hera bit her lip, clearly unamused. “What does it matter if someone else is Mr. Lee’s god-grandson? You don’t know the Lee family that well.”
Helena snorted dismissively. “I can’t be bothered to discuss it with you. But I’ll make sure Kai tells Mr. Lee that our Rococo company is also interested in working with the Drake Group.”
After finishing her taunt, Helena grabbed Rooney’s hand and headed toward the main entrance.
Hera watched them leave with disdain. “What a cocky brat. If she’s like this now, what will she be like once she’s married to Kai?”
Lauren, who had been quietly observing, whispered, “Nash isn’t here yet…”
Harrison scoffed, “Didn’t he say he had something to take care of? He must be busy.”
Curious, Hera looked at her parents. “Do you think, because of Nash, we can work with the Drake Group?”
Lauren flicked Hera’s forehead lightly, her voice stern yet caring. “Didn’t Nash already tell you? He’s your fiancé. Why can’t you trust him for once?”
Olivia had hinted that Nash was the person she was looking for when she asked about another name under consideration. When Hera had confronted Nash, he confirmed it was his effort that had made things happen, confirming the suspicions she’d held in her heart.
Still, Hera pouted, unconvinced. “I don’t believe him. He also said he could make a lot of money…”
“Enough, let’s go inside already!” Harrison said, gesturing to the door, his patience wearing thin.
“You two go ahead. I’ll wait for Skadi,” Hera replied, staying behind.
As the younger generation headed inside, Hera waited for Skadi to arrive before entering together. She stood there, her anticipation building, when suddenly the Hill family’s car pulled up.
Hunter, stepping out of the car, immediately spotted Hera standing alone, her plain attire in stark contrast to the extravagance around her. She looked radiant despite her simple clothing, her eyes gleaming with an edge of frustration as she seemed to wait for her distant husband’s return.
Hunter, a stocky man at 5’5″ and weighing around 350 pounds, was far from thin, but not overweight either. His small eyes crinkled into a smile as he approached Hera, rubbing his hands together with enthusiasm. “My darling Rara, have you been waiting for me?”
