Chapter 82

As the city lights began to glow in the evening, Nash’s stomach growled, protesting the fact that he hadn’t eaten in over a day.

The old-fashioned ringtone of his phone broke the silence beside him on the pillow.

It was a call from Theo.

Given the time—right around dinner—Theo’s call likely meant an invitation for a meal. Although Nash had an inkling of what was coming, he still asked, “What’s up?”

On the other end of the line, Theo hesitated for a moment before letting out a chuckle. “Nashy, I’ve reserved a private room at the Chateau Hotel. How about we have a drink together?”

Before Nash could respond, Theo added, “Where are you? I’ll have my wife come pick you up…”

Nash quickly declined, “No need to trouble anyone. I’ll just grab something downstairs.”

He wasn’t in the mood to waste time, especially since his injury was still healing.

Theo’s voice was insistent. “That won’t do. I’ve finally made it to Jonford, and we haven’t had a drink together yet. Besides… I have some important news to share with you…”

“What important news?” Nash asked, his curiosity piqued.

“Tell me where you are first, and I’ll tell you about it later!” Theo responded, pretending to be mysterious.

Nash sighed, relenting. He gave Theo his location but warned, “You don’t need to send anyone. I’ll take a car and come over myself. My identity is already on the verge of being exposed by you…”

He had kept his true identity hidden to protect the Lewises. After all, his past was filled with dangerous missions, often targeting the leaders of ruthless criminal organizations. Though most of his work had been overseas, there was always a chance some old enemies might come after him.

He didn’t fear these groups, but the Lewises were ordinary people with no means of protection.

Half an hour later, Nash arrived at the Chateau Hotel.

The Chateau Hotel was a luxurious five-star establishment and the only one of its kind in Jonford. To dine there, one needed a membership card.

The hotel’s membership was divided into three tiers.

The Green VIP card had a minimum membership fee of $150 million, mostly held by third-rate families.

The Black Diamond VIP card, with a fee of $700 million, was typically obtained by second- and first-rate families.

The Purple Supreme VIP card was by far the most exclusive, requiring a staggering $3 billion membership fee. Only the Lees and the Watsons, two of Jonford’s Five Elite families, held these cards.

The taxi Nash took stopped a good ten miles from the hotel’s entrance. Fortunately, Theo had anticipated this and arrived in a Ferrari to pick him up.

At the entrance of the hotel, eight beautiful hostesses greeted them with synchronized bows.

“Welcome, Mr. Nash! Welcome, Mr. Skye!”

Their attire, seductive low-cut dresses, seemed designed to turn heads. However, Nash didn’t even spare them a glance.

Theo noticed Nash’s lack of interest and couldn’t help but feel that Nash was missing something in that department.

The hostesses normally wouldn’t be so bold, but since they were catering to Nash today, Theo had given special instructions for them to show off in front of him.

Standing by the front desk, Olivia, the hotel’s manager, looked a little surprised when she saw Nash. She had always thought that Nashy was a burly man in his 30s, but the person standing before her looked even younger than she was. It was hard for her to reconcile the slender young man with the fearsome Smiling Grim Reaper she had heard about the day before.

“Nashy, this is my wife, Olivia Lee,” Theo introduced, his tone proud. “My grandfather and Olivia’s grandfather were sworn brothers. He even took a bullet for my grandfather, which is why our engagement was arranged when Olivia and I were born!”
