Chapter 100
Harrison sat with a hot towel pressed to his face, his expression grim. Lauren was busy rummaging through the first aid kit, looking for something to soothe the bruises on his face.
“As if it wasn’t your fault!” Lauren muttered, clearly frustrated. “We couldn’t get in touch with you last night. We thought your uncle was up to no good again, so your father went to question him. That’s when they started butting heads and got into a fight!”
Nash had already relayed the explanation he gave Hera’s parents on their way to the company.
Hera walked toward the desk, guilt weighing heavily on her shoulders. “Dad, I’m sorry I made you worry,” she apologized softly.
She wasn’t just feeling sorry for the fight and the bruises her father had suffered. There was a deeper warmth in her chest, the realization that no matter what happened, she would always be her parents’ treasure.
Lauren looked up, her expression softening as she gently applied ointment to Harrison’s bruises. “By the way, Hera, we’ve decided to postpone your birthday celebration for a few days.”
Hera blinked in surprise. “Why? I’ve already notified several of my classmates and teachers.”
Harrison sighed, a deep weariness in his voice. “Your uncle wants to bring Helena’s birthday forward to the same day. It’s obvious they’re trying to bully you. So, if we can’t afford to offend them, why don’t we just avoid them?”
Hera’s brows furrowed in anger. “Why should we avoid them? If she celebrates her birthday and I celebrate mine, then we won’t be getting in anyone’s way, no?”
Lauren, who was still applying the ointment, huffed in frustration. “Do it yourself.” She stood up, turned to face her daughter, and continued. “Your uncle’s family has better connections than we do. When all those relatives attend Helena’s birthday instead of yours, will you be happy? Will you still be able to celebrate your birthday?”
Lauren didn’t want Hera to face a disappointing birthday, so she had decided to postpone it.
Hera’s lips pressed into a tight line. With a quiet sigh, she conceded, “Alright, then.”
Suddenly, Nash spoke up. “I don’t think you should postpone Hera’s birthday.”
Both Lauren and Harrison turned to look at him in surprise.
Hera forced a smile, trying to mask the turmoil in her chest. “It’s okay. It’s just postponing it. It doesn’t matter if we celebrate it a few days later.”
Nash, however, wasn’t ready to let it go. “They brought Helena’s birthday forward to bully you. If you postpone it, they’ll gain an inch.”
Lauren understood what he meant, but she sighed helplessly. “But if Hera and Helena celebrate their birthdays on the same day, Hera’s party will definitely be dismal!”
Harrison chimed in. “Not only that, but Kai is going to celebrate Helena’s birthday at the Chateau Hotel. The old man will definitely go there.”
Hera’s eyes widened. “The Chateau Hotel?” The name sent a chill down her spine.
That hotel was part of the Skye family’s vast fortune in Capiton, and it was the most luxurious venue in Jonford. Even the most powerful families in the city struggled to gain access to it, let alone the Lewis family.
Nash, however, gave a slight smile. “Hera, do you want to hold your birthday party at the Chateau Hotel?”
Hera’s entire body stiffened. “I don’t…” she said quickly, shaking her head.
The very thought was absurd. The Watsons, the wealthiest family in Jonford, probably had at least one Black Diamond VIP card. Even if she could somehow scrape together 140 million dollars to buy one, it would only bring shame upon her.
Not to mention, she could only earn 56 million from her project with the Drake Group, and that project would take a year to complete.
“Can you book a room at the Chateau Hotel?” Lauren asked, her voice cautious. She was beginning to suspect Nash’s identity. Could his casual question earlier imply that he had a way to enter the hotel?
Nash nodded without hesitation. “I have a friend who works at the Chateau Hotel. It won’t be a problem for me to ask him for a private room.”
Hera’s eyes widened in alarm. “It’s okay! Let’s not bother other people. So what if we can get a room? The Watsons will definitely get a bigger room than ours. We’d only be humiliating ourselves if we go!”
Lauren frowned, her own doubts creeping in. “That’s true…”
Hera, now resolute, spoke with conviction. “So, it’s decided. My birthday will be postponed to the eighth of next month.”
Seeing how firm her daughter was, Lauren didn’t argue further. She simply sighed, lowering her head.
Meanwhile, at the Hill family’s villa, the drama was unfolding in a different way.
