Chapter 23

“He… He’s my fiancé!” Hera’s voice faltered as she felt a knot of unease in her stomach.

With all of her grandfather’s memories of Nash erased, would he object to their marriage? No, he couldn’t. She had to get that marriage certificate with Nash as soon as possible.

Herman pinched the bridge of his nose, as if trying to push the headache away. “I see. You two go ahead with what you need to do. Harrison, get Hubert and his family over here. I need to see them immediately!”

Hera turned to Nash, her face a mixture of helplessness and concern.

“Let’s head out first…” Nash suggested gently.

Outside, as they walked down the steps, Hera felt a surge of emotion. She wanted to cry, but the tears just wouldn’t come. “When it rains, it really pours. I can already tell Grandpa’s going to take back the villa in Royal Bay.”

Nash smiled slightly. “It’s not like we can’t live in the apartment.”

Hera shot him a look, exasperated. “Are you stupid? The people who can live in Royal Bay are either rich or noble. We could stand to benefit a lot if we just latch onto two or three of them.”

Nash nodded thoughtfully. “I’ll write up a prescription later to help treat the damage to the old man’s brain. Hopefully, he’ll recover his memories soon.”

“Yes, you need to help Grandpa get his memories back as quickly as possible. Otherwise, Uncle’s family will definitely take advantage of this situation and play their tricks!”

They made their way downstairs as they talked. Maria had prepared breakfast, and she urged them to eat before they left. Hera ate her food distractedly, her thoughts still racing.

Meanwhile, Nash stepped outside to smoke. He wandered around the estate, eventually finding himself near the security room.

Through the window, he saw the security guard engrossed in lewd videos on his phone. Nash knocked on the door, but when the guard didn’t answer, he knocked again, louder this time.

The security guard looked up, annoyed, and grabbed his baton. “Which bastard is disturbing my mood?” he muttered under his breath, opening the door to investigate.

Before he could say anything more, he felt a sharp sting on the back of his neck, and suddenly, he found himself standing on a stage at a bar, surrounded by beautiful women. His eyes glazed over as he grinned idiotically and began dancing along with the crowd.

Inside the security room, Nash quickly got to work. He opened the back cover of his phone, connected a data cable, and within three minutes, he had copied nearly three days’ worth of surveillance footage from Lewis Estate onto his phone.

After unplugging his phone, Nash carefully removed the golden needle from the security guard’s neck. In a flash, he disappeared, leaving no trace behind.

The security guard blinked several times as the scene in front of him shifted. He found himself standing in an empty room, the bar and women nowhere to be seen. “Did I… did I hallucinate?” he muttered, scratching his head in confusion.

Back at the villa, Hera had finished breakfast, and upon seeing Nash return, she immediately grabbed him. “My mother wants us at the headquarters. Let’s go.”

Without asking any questions, Nash followed Hera out of the estate. At the gates, a law enforcement vehicle was parked, and two officers in civilian clothes approached them.

The middle-aged officer extended his right hand with a polite smile. “Good morning, Mr. Calcraft.”

Nash returned the handshake with a slight smile. “Good morning.”

The younger female officer, however, looked more serious. “Mr. Calcraft, may we speak to you alone?”

Nash raised an eyebrow but nodded. “Sure.”

He followed the two officers into their vehicle, where the female officer pulled out a recording pen and switched it on. “All conversations will be recorded from now on. Please answer at your discretion, Mr. Calcraft.”

Nash was taken aback. “Are you interrogating me?”

Before the female officer could respond, the middle-aged officer quickly chimed in, smiling. “No, Mr. Calcraft. We’re not interrogating you. We’re investigating a case of intentional homicide.”
