Chapter 29

A flash of hostility flickered in Herman’s eyes. “B*stards! How dare they lie to me?!” He stormed out of the office building, his anger palpable.

Hubert immediately pulled out his phone and dialed his daughter. “Has Mr. Zoel settled everything?” he asked, his tone urgent.

“It’s done, Dad. Get someone to destroy all the surveillance footage from the Lewis Estate immediately!” came the response.

At Baroque’s headquarters, Hera led Nash to the president’s office, where Harrison and Lauren sat on the sofa, their faces etched with concern.

Lauren, though nearing 50, had a youthful glow to her skin, as if she were in her 30s. Her well-maintained appearance seemed to defy age.

“Dad, Mom…” Hera greeted them as she sat down on the opposite sofa.

“Uncle, Aunt!” Nash added, sitting beside Hera.

Harrison and Lauren exchanged a glance, their expressions growing more sorrowful by the second.

Hera’s voice softened as she asked, “Did something happen again?”

Harrison sighed deeply. “Your grandfather took back the villa in Royal Bay…”

Hera smiled wryly. “I already guessed it.”

Lauren turned to Nash, her eyes filled with worry. “Nashy, do you have any special means of restoring the old man’s memory quickly?”

Nash frowned in thought. After a moment, he replied, “The only way to help him is through holistic medicine, but that will take about a month.”

Lauren’s smile turned bitter. “His memory loss doesn’t really affect you, but Hubert’s family is secretly scheming. You’re likely going to be pushed out of the family…”

Hera squeezed Nash’s hand, her eyes red with frustration. “Then what should we do now?”

Nash gave a small smile, trying to reassure her. “The only thing we can do now is wait for the old man to recover his memory.”

He then pulled out a pen and paper and wrote down a prescription, passing it to Harrison. “This prescription can help repair the nerves in Mr. Lewis’s brain.”

Harrison accepted the prescription, though a wry smile tugged at his lips. “Will he actually take your medicine?”

Nash shook his head. “No. It’s up to you to find a way to get him to take it.”

Just then, Harrison’s phone rang. He answered, and the voice on the other end was unmistakable.

“Harrison,” Herman’s voice barked through the speaker. “I’ll be heading over to Baroque and your home for an inspection in two days. I don’t want to see that wildling anywhere near my family!”

Harrison placed the phone on speaker, and Hera’s grip on Nash’s hand tightened upon hearing the domineering tone of her grandfather.

Harrison looked at Nash helplessly, knowing the power his father wielded. With 40% of Baroque’s shares, Herman was untouchable.

Nash nodded calmly, sensing Harrison’s inner turmoil. He gave a reassuring glance before Harrison replied, “Yes, Chairman…”

Herman’s words were like a cold gust of wind, blowing through their lives. The old man’s abrupt transformation had brought them to the peak of success only to threaten their downfall once again.

Herman’s voice cut through the line, filled with finality. “Also, I’ll have Helena talk to the Watsons about helping you restart your partnership with Drake Group. If you fail again, don’t blame me for turning my back on you!”

With that, the call ended, leaving Harrison staring at his phone in silence. He slowly lowered his hand, his expression filled with misery.

If things had been different, he would’ve rejoiced at the chance to partner with Drake Group. But now, relying on Helena to rekindle the partnership through the Watsons felt like accepting charity from his elder brother’s family.

Lauren, sensing the weight of the situation, reached into her bag and pulled out a bank card. She handed it to Nash with a weary smile. “Nashy, you should keep a low profile for now. There’s about 200,000 dollars on this card—just treat it as your living expenses for the month.”
