Chapter_134

Olivia smiled softly as she read Claude’s message, the memories of her childhood in Sereneville rushing back to her. She had always loved spending time with the children in the village, and Natalie had been one of the brightest spots in those years. The image of the little girl, always smiling despite her challenges, lingered in her mind.

“She was so strong, even back then,” Olivia typed back, her fingers hovering over the keys. “I’m so glad to hear she’s doing better.”

Claude’s response was quick, warm, and thoughtful. “She was a fighter. You must have been a big part of her life.”

Olivia paused before replying, her heart feeling full. “I think I was. I used to spend hours with her. I braided her hair and helped her with everything I could. She always made me laugh. It was hard leaving the village, but it’s comforting to know she’s doing well.”

Claude’s next message brought a touch of nostalgia to her heart. “It’s nice to hear you talk about it. It sounds like you made a big impact on her life, Olivia.”

Her fingers hovered over the screen for a moment as she thought about her past, the simplicity of those village days, and the kindness she tried to share with the children there. Finally, she replied, “I miss it. Sometimes I wish I could go back and visit.”

Claude seemed to sense her sentiment. “If you ever want to visit, let me know. I can help you get there.”

Olivia smiled at the offer, grateful for the friendship they had. “Thanks, Claude. Maybe one day.”

As she put her phone down, Olivia felt a deep sense of warmth, but also a slight ache in her chest. The more she thought about the village, the more she realized how much those years had shaped her. And now, she felt like she was at a crossroads—torn between her current life and the memories of the simpler times in Sereneville.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a knock on her door. She quickly got up, wiping away the faint trace of nostalgia from her face, and opened the door to find Tyler standing there, his expression neutral as usual.

“Good morning, Olivia,” he said, though there was a quiet sharpness in his tone. “I was wondering if you’re going to be busy today after class.”

Olivia looked at him, slightly taken aback by the abruptness of his question. “No, I’m free,” she said, trying to keep her tone light. “Why?”

Tyler’s gaze softened ever so slightly. “I wanted to talk. You know, about… yesterday.”

Olivia nodded, sensing the tension was still there. “Sure. I’ll be in my room.”

As Tyler followed her inside, Olivia couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that something was still off between them. The conversation about Claude lingered in the air, and she wasn’t sure how to ease the unspoken tension.
