Chapter_156

Maisy continued to smile, clearly pleased with the rings and the jewelry Olivia was wearing. Tyler, still quiet, gave a brief nod in response to his grandmother’s comment. He seemed entirely comfortable in the role of someone who could afford luxury, and his demeanor made Olivia feel even more out of place.

Olivia shifted her weight nervously, not used to being the center of so much attention, especially from people who had known Tyler far longer than she had. Maisy seemed to be studying her, as though searching for any signs of discomfort, but Olivia did her best to hide it.

“Tyler, did you pick the right necklace?” Maisy asked, her tone light but pointed.

Tyler turned to Olivia, offering her a rare, almost reassuring smile. “I think I did. What do you think, Olivia?”

Olivia’s fingers instinctively brushed against the necklace, feeling the cool weight of the diamonds. It was beautiful, undeniably, but she still felt it was too much for her. “It’s… lovely. Thank you, Tyler.”

Maisy nodded approvingly, her eyes gleaming. “Well, it’s all about what makes you happy, dear. And you’ll need it, especially if you’ll be joining us more often. You’ll fit right in with the Harris family.”

Olivia couldn’t quite tell if Maisy was being genuine or if she was just playing a part. She nodded politely, but the weight of her words lingered. “Joining us more often”… it sounded like there was no turning back. The expectations seemed to be rising with every word spoken.

Tyler, seeing that the conversation was becoming a bit too heavy, gently steered Olivia toward the door. “Let’s go upstairs. I’ll help you get settled into the new room.”

Olivia nodded, grateful for the escape from the increasingly uncomfortable situation. As they made their way upstairs, Olivia couldn’t help but wonder what the future would look like in this world of luxury, expectations, and hidden pressures.

Once inside the room, Tyler closed the door behind them and turned to Olivia. “I know this isn’t exactly how you imagined things, but we’ll figure it out.”

Olivia looked at him, her voice quiet. “I don’t know if I can get used to all of this.”

Tyler’s expression softened, and he moved closer to her. “You don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”

Olivia wanted to believe him, to trust that this could work out, but everything felt so fast, so overwhelming. She wasn’t sure what to say, so she simply nodded, unable to voice the doubts swirling in her mind.

Tyler placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. “We’ll take it one step at a time. Together.”

As he left the room, Olivia stood by the window, staring out into the vastness of the Harris estate. The world outside seemed so different from the one she had known. But she was here now. And somehow, she would have to navigate it.
