Chapter_149

Olivia turned around, her heart skipping a beat at the sound of her name. Tyler’s voice was softer than usual, though still carrying a distant tone.

“Yeah?” she asked, unsure of what he wanted.

Tyler hesitated for a moment, his eyes not meeting hers. “I just… I haven’t had the chance to talk to you since everything happened. I know this isn’t ideal, but I don’t want you to feel alone in this.”

Olivia felt a knot form in her stomach at his words. It wasn’t the first time he’d said something like that, but it felt different now. Maybe because of the marriage, the signatures—everything that had changed in such a short amount of time.

She nodded quietly, unsure how to respond. “Thanks,” she managed, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tyler gave a slight nod, his expression unreadable. “We’ll figure this out. I don’t want you to feel like you’re… like you’re stuck in this.”

The silence stretched between them. Olivia felt the weight of his words, and for a moment, she thought maybe there was more to what he was saying. Maybe he was trying to reach out. But she didn’t know how to respond to that. Could she trust him, or was this just another attempt to smooth things over?

After what felt like an eternity, she broke the silence. “I’ll be fine,” she said, her voice steadier than she felt. “Goodnight, Tyler.”

With that, she turned and walked back to her room, leaving him standing there in the hallway, a faint sense of unresolved tension hanging in the air.

As the door closed behind her, Olivia let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. She stared at the darkened ceiling, trying to make sense of everything. The marriage, her feelings, the strange distance between her and Tyler… none of it made sense, and she didn’t know how to fit all the pieces together.

Was this really the life she’d signed up for? Or was she just lost in a role she never asked for?

She closed her eyes, exhaustion weighing heavily on her, but sleep refused to come.
