Chapter_186

Olivia grew increasingly uneasy as the doctor continued his examination. Though uncomfortable, she did as he asked and slowly extended her tongue, feeling awkward and self-conscious under his clinical gaze.

After a brief moment of observation, the doctor nodded.
“Her stomach appears fine,” he remarked.

Olivia quickly retracted her tongue and looked away, a trace of embarrassment washing over her.

The doctor continued his routine check, then extended his hand.
“Let me check your pulse,” he said.

Obediently, Olivia placed her hand in his. A heavy silence settled in the room as he studied her pulse, his expression growing more serious.
“How old are you?” he asked suddenly.

“Twenty-two,” she replied softly.

Tyler stood quietly nearby, observing the doctor’s every move with a furrowed brow and an unreadable expression.

After a thoughtful pause, the doctor asked, “When was your last menstrual period?”

The question caught Olivia off guard. Her discomfort had nothing to do with that—at least, that’s what she thought.

“I… It’s been over a month,” she answered hesitantly, uncertain why it was relevant.

The doctor released her wrist and fell silent. The quiet stretched, thick with tension, until at last, he looked at the pair and said firmly,
“You’re pregnant.”

Time seemed to freeze.

Olivia’s eyes widened in disbelief. She stared at the doctor, stunned.
“I—It can’t be… That’s not possible,” she stammered, her voice barely audible.

But the doctor stood his ground. “You are pregnant. When was the last time you two had intercourse?”

Olivia was speechless. Her thoughts spiraled in confusion, her memory clouded by the shock. She couldn’t form a response.

Tyler answered instead, his voice calm but blunt.
“Every now and then.”

The doctor gave a small nod, his tone confident.
“The fetus is almost a month old.”

Olivia felt as if the world tilted beneath her. Her mind struggled to process what she’d just heard. Pregnancy? It had never even crossed her mind—especially not when she had believed such a possibility was beyond her.

Tyler remained silent, the weight of the moment settling on him as well. The maid stood nearby, unaware of the full context and oblivious to the emotional whirlwind unfolding.

A dull roar echoed in Olivia’s ears, as if thunder was crashing inside her skull. The idea of being pregnant was too sudden, too unreal.

“I’ll take her to the hospital for a proper check-up,” Tyler said eventually, his voice flat but decisive.

The doctor nodded. “That’s a good idea. Her symptoms suggest early morning sickness, and it looks quite severe.”

“Thank you,” Tyler replied seriously.

The doctor gave no further instructions or medication and allowed the maid to escort him out. The door closed behind them, leaving the room in a heavy, suffocating silence.

Olivia sat motionless, her limbs weak and her thoughts scattered. For what felt like a long time, she couldn’t say a word.

Tyler returned to the edge of the bed and sat beside her. He didn’t speak at first—just watched her quietly.

After a while, he said gently, “Let’s get it confirmed at the hospital.”

Still, Olivia didn’t respond.

He understood. To someone like Olivia—still so young, with dreams and uncertainties ahead—the thought of motherhood wasn’t just unfamiliar. It was terrifying.

Reaching out, Tyler softly patted her head and brushed her hair back from her face.
“Don’t be afraid,” he said with quiet reassurance. “We’re just going to find out the truth. That’s all.”

Finally, she turned to look at him. Her eyes were filled with confusion, her voice barely above a whisper.
“How did I suddenly get pregnant?”
