Chapter_161
Olivia was anxious, her thoughts in turmoil. Every small mistake felt like a misstep that could snowball into something much worse. Her heart pounded, her breath tight in her chest. No one around her could possibly understand what she was feeling—not the pressure, not the fear.
Sensing her unease, Tyler finally spoke.
“Sorry. My bad for not waking you up.”
But to Olivia, the apology felt hollow—detached. Like he was just saying the right words to end the conversation, not because he truly cared.
She shook her head, eyes damp with unshed tears.
“No, it’s not about that. It’s me. I just don’t understand why something as simple as a reminder seems too much to ask for.”
Tyler’s gaze darkened, his expression hardening with silence.
Unable to contain her emotions any longer, Olivia abruptly turned and ran, brushing past Colleen in the hallway. Startled, Colleen barely stepped aside in time, watching her vanish down the corridor with confusion written all over her face.
“What happened?” she asked, turning to Tyler. “Did you two fight?”
Tyler glared at her, his tone sharp.
“Don’t jump to conclusions.”
Then, without another word, he thrust his golf club into her hands and strode off, leaving Colleen speechless and concerned.
Back at the house, Tyler found the bedroom door locked. He frowned.
“Get me the spare key,” he instructed the maid.
“Yes, sir.”
Five minutes later, the door clicked open. Olivia was curled up on the bed, her face buried in a pillow. She looked up when she heard him enter, her eyes rimmed red.
Tyler didn’t go to her immediately. He walked to the couch and sat down, putting space between them. His jaw was tight, his shoulders tense.
Colleen had followed them, but as she peeked in, Tyler snapped at her.
“Out. Now. And close the door behind you.”
Startled by his tone, Colleen stepped back quickly. Realizing she had walked into something far more serious than she expected, she closed the door quietly and slipped away.
Inside the room, silence stretched.
Tyler finally broke it with a sigh.
“I’m not good at… smoothing things over. I know that. If you feel this is too much, if you think I’m being unfair… I’ll have the driver take you home.”
Olivia turned her head slightly, her voice low.
“What does that even mean?”
He didn’t answer.
For a moment, neither of them moved. Then, slowly, Olivia pushed herself up from the bed. She met his eyes, her voice soft.
“Okay. Thank you… for your consideration.”
Just as she began to rise, Tyler suddenly reached out and caught her arm, holding her in place.
