Chapter_141
Olivia stood frozen for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest. Naomi? What had happened to Naomi? Her mind scrambled to process the fragmented words she’d just heard. She quickly picked up her phone, her hands trembling as she redialed the number.
The phone rang for what felt like an eternity before Mrs. Jones finally answered, her voice shaky. “Olivia… Naomi’s been taken. We don’t know where she is… Tyler’s out looking for her, but it’s bad. She—”
Olivia’s stomach churned as the words hit her like a punch. “Taken?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Mrs. Jones sobbed softly on the other end. “Yes… we think it’s Morgan’s people. It’s all connected, Olivia. The things Tyler’s been trying to protect you from… it’s happening now.”
Olivia’s mind raced, her pulse quickening as she remembered the name Morgan. The fear in Mrs. Jones’ voice was all too real. Could this have something to do with what happened to Naomi before? The secret that Tyler had kept hidden, the pain he was still carrying. Was it all leading to this moment?
“Where’s Tyler?” Olivia asked, her voice now filled with urgency.
“Out. He left just a while ago, but I don’t know where he’s going,” Mrs. Jones replied, trying to steady her breathing. “He won’t let anyone else help. He’s determined to find Naomi, no matter what.”
Olivia’s hands shook, her mind a whirlpool of confusion, fear, and anger. Why hadn’t he told her about Morgan? About this danger? She could feel her emotions swirling together in a storm. She wanted to help. She had to help.
“I’m coming to you,” Olivia said firmly, already grabbing her jacket. She wouldn’t sit idly by while Tyler, the man who had been so protective of her, dealt with everything on his own. She couldn’t let Naomi—his sister—be lost because of some twisted past that had been buried for so long.
“No, Olivia—” Mrs. Jones tried to protest, but Olivia ended the call.
She was already moving, rushing out of her room and down the stairs. The night had barely faded, and the tension in the air felt like it was thickening with every step. She didn’t know what exactly she was walking into, but she couldn’t ignore the feeling that whatever happened next, she needed to face it head-on.
She stepped into the cool morning air and immediately spotted Tyler’s car, speeding off down the driveway. Without a second thought, she dashed to her own car and started it, determined to follow him. I need to know what’s going on. I need to help.
As she drove through the darkened streets, Olivia couldn’t shake the sense of urgency that gripped her chest. Every minute counted. She knew Tyler was heading toward something dangerous, but what was it? What would they find once they got to the heart of the mystery surrounding Morgan’s death—and how was Claude connected?
She pushed the thoughts aside for the moment. Her focus was on Naomi now. She had to find her. And maybe, just maybe, in the process, she would finally uncover the truth.
