Chapter_189
Olivia couldn’t help but wonder how Ana had found out about her pregnancy so quickly. The timing was too perfect—Ana had shown up almost immediately after the doctor’s confirmation. The thought unsettled her, feeding the anxiety already churning inside.
Tyler stood beside the bed, his gaze cool as he watched Ana. Clearly, he wasn’t pleased either.
But Ana had eyes only for Olivia.
“What? You still don’t want to call me that?” she asked with a teasing smile, referring to the title “Mom.”
Feeling cornered and unsure how to respond, Olivia hesitated. But finally, under pressure, she murmured politely, “Mom.”
Ana’s smile widened with satisfaction. She moved closer and gently held Olivia’s hand, as if it were something precious.
“You’re pregnant now. You should rest and take care of yourself here at the hospital. That’s your only focus for the time being,” Ana said softly. “Are you feeling nauseous? Any discomfort?”
“I… I’m okay,” Olivia replied stiffly, still overwhelmed by everything.
“I’ve asked the maid to make some soup for you,” Ana added. “You need to replenish your strength. Nutrition is important now.”
Olivia sat quietly, her heart still in turmoil. She wasn’t in the right frame of mind to handle Ana’s sudden warmth or enthusiasm.
But Ana didn’t seem to notice her distress—or perhaps she simply chose to ignore it.
“You’re still young, and the baby’s condition is fragile,” Ana continued. “Be extra cautious. No falling or getting overly tired, do you hear me?”
Olivia lowered her gaze, the tension in her chest growing tighter by the second.
Ana noticed Olivia’s unease, especially with how closely Tyler had been comforting her earlier. But she didn’t comment further. Instead, after delivering her stream of advice, she rose from the bed and turned to Tyler.
“Congratulations on becoming a dad, Tyler.”
Tyler didn’t respond. His face remained unreadable, his eyes cold. Though Ana’s words sounded sincere, they didn’t seem to touch him at all.
“You really got the news fast,” he remarked coolly.
“Of course I did! I’m going to be a grandma—how could I not be thrilled?” Ana replied brightly, practically glowing with excitement. “And I didn’t even have to do anything. It all happened so naturally.”
Tyler didn’t reply. He could feel her glee without even looking at her, and it did little to soften his guarded expression.
Just then, his phone rang.
He glanced at the screen—someone from the Harris family. Lifting his eyes, he shot Ana a knowing look before stepping out of the ward to take the call.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Ana turned back to Olivia with a softer gaze.
“Tyler likes you more than I thought,” she said, her voice light but laced with meaning.
Olivia didn’t answer. She simply clutched the blanket tighter and closed her eyes, trying to shield herself from the weight of the moment.
“I’ve already told your grandmother the good news,” Ana added gently. “Don’t worry about anything else. Just take care of yourself.”
Nearly three minutes passed in silence before Tyler returned, having finished his call. Ana took the cue.
She picked up her handbag and walked toward the door. “I’ll head home now. I’ll visit again tomorrow. Take good care of her,” she said to Tyler with a calm smile.
“Sorry for intruding on the two of you.”
And with that, she left.
