Chapter_203
Maisy’s heart ached as she looked at Olivia, pale and visibly weakened. She gently pulled her into a hug. “You can’t keep going like this, sweetheart. You need to eat more,” she said softly, her voice filled with concern.
Then, turning to Tyler, her tone sharpened. “Didn’t you promise to take care of her, Tyler? How did she lose so much weight so quickly?”
She wasn’t exaggerating—Maisy was genuinely upset. Olivia felt the sting of those words, and quickly reached out to squeeze her hand.
“It’s not his fault, Grandma,” Olivia murmured. “I just… I haven’t had much of an appetite lately.”
Tyler took Maisy’s reproach seriously and replied calmly, “That’s actually why I was hoping to get some advice from you.”
“Advice?” Maisy repeated, clearly frustrated. “You need to pay more attention to her, that’s the advice. She’s wasting away, and you’re standing by doing nothing. Can’t you see what the pregnancy is doing to her?”
“Mm-hmm, you’re right,” Tyler responded without protest, accepting her scolding.
Still, Maisy remained anxious. “Why don’t you let her stay at our place for a while? I’ll look after her myself.”
Tyler hesitated, mulling it over. Olivia, sitting quietly beside him, tensed. She glanced at him, clearly hoping he wouldn’t agree.
Catching her expression, Tyler responded smoothly, “It’s peaceful here. She’s finally getting some rest. She’s been really sensitive lately, and moving her somewhere new might make things worse.”
Relief flooded Olivia’s eyes.
Maisy caught the subtle exchange. Understanding that Olivia didn’t want to leave, she gave in with a nod. “Alright. Do what you think is best.”
Still worried, she made another decision. “I’ll have my chef come here. He can prepare meals for Olivia every day. At least then, I’ll have some peace of mind.”
Maisy pulled Olivia into another hug, stroking her back with affection. Olivia didn’t resist—she leaned quietly into the embrace, grateful for the warmth.
Noticing the moment, Tyler said softly, “Stay with her.”
Maisy nodded and remained by Olivia’s side, speaking to her gently, offering comfort and reassurance.
Tyler watched them quietly for a moment before stepping out of the room, giving them space.
The rest of the afternoon passed with Maisy doting on Olivia, gifting her several delicate pieces of jewelry. Olivia felt awkward, unsure how to politely decline, but she accepted them with a small smile, not wanting to offend her.
The next morning, Olivia woke feeling a little better. As they sat down to breakfast, she looked across the table and asked, “Can I go for a walk today?”
Tyler, still in his pajamas and sipping coffee, reached over and poured her a glass of orange juice. “Of course. You can go wherever you like.”
“Anywhere will do,” she said lightly.
“Would you like me to come with you?” he offered.
She shook her head quickly. “No, thanks. I’d rather go alone.”
“Should I have the maid go with you, then?”
After a brief pause, Olivia nodded. “Okay.”
“Just be careful,” Tyler reminded her gently. “Don’t go anywhere too crowded.”
Olivia looked more like herself today. She gave him a soft smile and nodded, quietly appreciating his concern.
