Chapter_246

“Just someone insignificant,” Tyler replied casually, his tone smooth and composed. “Are you up?”

His voice had a deep resonance, slightly nasal yet comforting, and Olivia had always found it oddly reassuring.

“Yeah, I’m awake,” she said softly, pulling the blanket tighter around her as she sat up.

Tyler walked over and sat gently on the edge of the bed. “Are you hungry? Want something to eat?”

“I’m okay,” she murmured, feeling a bit self-conscious. The way she clung to him last night—so vulnerable, so raw—still lingered in her mind. Had she lost control?

But Tyler didn’t seem fazed by any of it. In fact, he looked calm, even warm. “You haven’t been eating much lately,” he pointed out gently.

Olivia glanced down. He was right. She hadn’t had much appetite, but now, with the baby’s condition uncertain, she knew she had to take better care of herself.

“I’ll eat,” she said more firmly this time.

Tyler smiled, pleased with her answer. He was still dressed in the same sharp black suit and crisp white shirt from the day before. The clothes, though slightly wrinkled, only made him look more effortlessly refined.

“Alright, I’ll have something brought up,” he said, standing to make the call.

When the food arrived, Tyler handed her a fork and pointed to a dish. “The seafood omelet is good. Try this one.”

As Olivia reached for the plate, she noticed his hands—steady, strong, with clearly defined fingers that somehow gave her a sense of security. She took small, delicate bites, quietly savoring the taste.

Tyler sat beside her, watching her eat with a composed, almost protective expression. His steady gaze didn’t make her nervous—it made her feel seen.

Just then, Linda stepped into the room. “Sir, you’re needed at Pinnacle Group today.”

Olivia looked up. Tyler gave her a reassuring nod. “Stay here and rest. I’ll be back after I handle a few things.”

“Okay,” she said softly, understanding that he had responsibilities to take care of.

After he left the ward, Linda handed him a folder. “These are the latest reports,” she said.

Tyler flipped through the pages as they walked down the hall. Just then, Linda’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and handed it to him. “It’s Mr. Michael.”

Michael Cox—the president of Averie Co., and Gina’s father.

Tyler took the phone. “Mr. Cox,” he greeted evenly.

Michael’s voice came through with a mix of politeness and eagerness. “Mr. Tyler, I hope I’m not disturbing you. I’ve been wanting to invite you over since hearing you were in town, but I didn’t want to impose.”

Tyler’s tone remained smooth. “No need to be so formal. We’re practically family. Our companies have had a long and productive partnership.”

It was true. Averie Co. had been one of the core suppliers for Pinnacle Group. The Harris family’s business empire extended across a wide range of industries—real estate, healthcare, finance, tech, education, tourism. Pinnacle Group stood as a multibillion-dollar flagship, and Averie Co. had profited immensely from being one of its major suppliers.

Their partnership had always been one of mutual benefit, and lately, there had even been talk of deeper joint ventures.

Michael chuckled politely, then shifted to a more personal tone. “Well, I have to say, all of this is really thanks to your support for me, Mr. Tyler.”

Tyler caught the emphasis on “me” instead of “us.” It wasn’t lost on him.

He smiled faintly, though his eyes turned colder.
