Chapter_276

Olivia’s heart was pounding, and she couldn’t find the right words. She had never been in this kind of situation before, especially with Tyler. His proximity was overwhelming, and the way he was looking at her, with those eyes that seemed to see right through her, made her feel exposed. She fidgeted, her face a deep shade of red, as she tried to collect her thoughts.

“I… I wasn’t thinking about anything,” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. She desperately tried to pull her hands free, but Tyler didn’t let go. The more she struggled, the more his grip tightened, though not in a painful way—just enough to make her feel helpless.

Tyler raised an eyebrow, his amused smile lingering. “Really? Because it looks like you were thinking about something.”

His teasing tone made Olivia feel even more flustered. She wished the floor would open up and swallow her whole. She couldn’t meet his gaze; instead, she focused on the floor, trying to regain her composure.

“Please,” she murmured, “Can we just go? I… I don’t want to be late for the appointment.”

Tyler, still holding her wrists, paused for a moment, as if considering her request. The playful expression on his face softened, and he finally released her. “Alright, if you say so.”

Olivia quickly pulled her hands back, rubbing them slightly as if to shake off the warmth his touch had left behind. She stood up, her legs a bit shaky, and tried to regain some sense of normalcy. The tension in the room still hung thick, but at least she could breathe again.

Tyler, unaffected by her reaction, turned towards the door. “Let’s go then. We have a lot to take care of today.”

Olivia nodded, not trusting herself to speak again. She followed him quietly, still trying to shake off the lingering embarrassment. As they made their way down the hallway, she found herself wondering if things had shifted between them. There had always been an undeniable tension, but this… this felt different.

They arrived at the car in silence, and Tyler drove them to the hospital without saying much. Olivia sat quietly in the passenger seat, lost in her thoughts. Her mind was still on the brief moment they’d shared back in her room, but she forced herself to focus on the task at hand.

She had to remind herself that today was about her health, about the baby. The test was important, and she couldn’t let herself get distracted by Tyler’s unpredictable behavior.

As they pulled up to the hospital, Tyler glanced over at her briefly. “Ready?”

Olivia nodded, feeling a knot form in her stomach. “Yeah… as ready as I can be.”

She wasn’t sure what to expect from the amniocentesis, but one thing was certain—she couldn’t allow herself to be distracted by everything else. There were too many things on her mind, but for now, she had to focus on getting through today.

Tyler didn’t say anything more as they entered the hospital, but there was a sense of quiet support in his presence. Olivia wasn’t sure if that meant something more, but for now, she was thankful for it.
