Chapter_254
Olivia’s curiosity only deepened as she waited in her room. Tyler’s unusual behavior was nagging at her. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, especially after seeing him freeze at the sight of Naomi’s car. It was as though he was caught in a moment of surprise, or maybe something more.
She tried to distract herself by resting, but the quiet in the room only made her thoughts louder. What was Naomi doing here? Why did Tyler seem so different all of a sudden? She knew there was something he wasn’t telling her, but she couldn’t quite place what it was.
After a while, Tyler finally entered the room. He didn’t look surprised to see her awake, though his eyes were distant, as if his mind was still elsewhere. Olivia watched him carefully, searching for any signs that he was hiding something.
“Everything okay?” she asked, her voice soft, testing the waters.
Tyler hesitated, but only for a moment. He put on a small smile, walking over to her bedside. “Yeah, everything’s fine. Just got caught up in some thoughts downstairs.”
Olivia raised an eyebrow. “Caught up in thoughts?” she repeated. It sounded like an excuse to her.
He sat down beside her and gently took her hand. “It’s nothing to worry about, Olivia. Really.”
Olivia wasn’t convinced. “But Naomi—”
“Naomi’s fine,” Tyler cut her off gently. “She’s just… going through something. It’s not something you need to worry about.”
Her instincts told her otherwise, but she didn’t press him further. There was a strange tightness in the air, and it seemed like Tyler was trying to keep her from asking too many questions. She didn’t want to push him away by demanding answers, but her mind kept returning to the sight of Naomi’s car and the way Tyler had looked at it.
“Okay,” Olivia said, her voice low, still unsure but choosing to trust him for now. “But if there’s anything, you know you can tell me, right?”
Tyler squeezed her hand, offering her a reassuring smile. “Of course. I’m always going to be honest with you, Olivia.”
Olivia nodded but couldn’t shake the feeling that she was missing something important. Something wasn’t right, and no matter how much Tyler tried to reassure her, she felt like there was a piece of the puzzle that wasn’t fitting.
Tyler stood up, his smile fading slightly as he looked at her. “I’ll be downstairs if you need anything. Just rest for now, okay?”
Olivia nodded again, still feeling the weight of his words. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but she knew it wasn’t just a passing concern. Naomi’s presence was unsettling, and it was clear that Tyler was more affected by it than he let on.
As Tyler left the room, Olivia lay back against the pillows, her mind racing. She wanted to trust him, to believe that everything was fine. But something told her that Naomi wasn’t the only thing Tyler was hiding.
