Chapter_242
The ambulance was taking too long.
Seeing Olivia curled up in pain and growing weaker by the second, Linda acted quickly. “Mr. Tyler, let’s not wait for the ambulance. The hospital’s nearby. We can drive her there—there won’t be any traffic at this hour.”
Tyler didn’t hesitate. He had initially called an ambulance thinking it would be safer, but time was no longer on their side. “Bring the car around,” he ordered.
Within minutes, Tyler carried Olivia down to the vehicle. Linda followed closely, phone in hand as she called ahead to prepare the hospital for their arrival.
In the back seat, Tyler sat with Olivia on his lap, cradling her carefully. He kept his hand over hers, pressing gently on her belly to offer any comfort he could. “It’s going to be okay, Olivia,” he murmured, his voice steady but soft.
His hand wrapped around hers, both of them covering the small bump that carried their baby.
“It hurts…” Olivia whispered, her voice trembling. Tears welled up again in her eyes.
Tyler gently leaned his forehead against hers. “I’m here. You’re not alone. Our baby knows we’re both right here.”
The pain didn’t stop, but his warmth helped. The panic in her chest dulled just enough to let her breathe.
“I’m scared,” she admitted, almost inaudibly.
Tyler’s arms tightened around her protectively. “I know. But we’re almost there. Just hold on a little longer.”
She nodded slightly, lips trembling as she whispered, “Okay…”
Within minutes, the car skidded to a stop at the hospital entrance. A medical team was already waiting. As soon as the doors opened, nurses rushed forward with a stretcher.
Olivia didn’t want to let go of Tyler’s hand, but he leaned close and reassured her, “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be right here. You’re safe now.”
Finally, she loosened her grip and let the staff lift her onto the stretcher. Tyler followed close behind until they wheeled her into the exam room, where he was asked to wait outside.
Linda hurried over. “Mr. Tyler, they’ll take good care of her. She’ll be alright.”
But Tyler wasn’t listening. His face had darkened, and his voice was icy. “Where’s Gina?”
Linda flinched at the tone. She answered cautiously, “She’s on her way. But for now, let’s focus on Olivia and the baby.”
Tyler said nothing. His eyes remained fixed on the door to Olivia’s room, the tension in his body like a coiled spring. He was trying to stay calm—but beneath the surface, fury simmered.
Linda stood nearby, her hands clenched nervously. If anything happened to the baby…
After what felt like hours, the door finally opened and the doctor stepped out, removing his gloves.
Tyler immediately walked over. “How is she?”
The doctor met his gaze calmly. “She experienced a threatened miscarriage. There was bleeding, but we managed to stabilize her.”
Tyler’s brows furrowed. “The baby?”
“The baby is still hanging on. But she’ll need rest. The stress she experienced today likely triggered the bleeding. We’ll need to monitor her closely. She must stay calm, and avoid any emotional shocks.”
Tyler exhaled slowly, tension flooding out of his chest. But his jaw remained tight.
He nodded. “Can I see her?”
The doctor glanced at the nurse, then replied, “She’s resting. You can go in, but please keep her calm.”
As Tyler stepped toward the door, his expression was no longer just cold—it was resolute. Olivia and the baby had been pushed to the edge. And whoever was responsible… would pay.
