Chapter_265

Tyler’s words hung in the air, heavy with frustration. Naomi recoiled slightly, her face a mix of hurt and defiance. He had never been this blunt with her before, and the sharpness of his tone stung.

“Tyler, I’m just trying to help,” she replied, her voice quieter now, a little shaky. “I’m not trying to make things worse. But you can’t expect me to just sit back and do nothing.”

Tyler’s gaze hardened as he took a step closer, his frustration bubbling over. “Help? You call this help? You’ve done nothing but add to the chaos, Naomi. Every time I turn around, it’s another game, another manipulation. You’re so caught up in your own world that you don’t even see what’s happening around you!”

Naomi’s breath caught in her throat, the sting of his words cutting deeper than she expected. She had always prided herself on being composed, on staying above the fray, but Tyler’s words shattered that illusion. She had always tried to keep up the image of the perfect daughter, the perfect sister, but in that moment, she felt small and vulnerable.

“I never asked for this,” Naomi whispered, her voice barely audible. “I never asked for any of it. I didn’t want things to be this way. But you and Olivia… you’re always so far ahead of me. You don’t understand how hard it is to feel like I don’t belong, like I’m not enough.”

Tyler stood silent for a moment, the weight of his anger still simmering beneath the surface. But as he looked at Naomi, he saw the exhaustion in her eyes, the weariness that spoke of someone trying desperately to hold everything together while falling apart on the inside.

He exhaled sharply, his anger turning inward. “Naomi, I didn’t mean to hurt you. But this situation with Olivia is complicated, and it’s not just about us anymore. We all need to make decisions with her well-being in mind. Not just what we want, but what she needs.”

Naomi’s eyes filled with tears, and she quickly wiped them away, trying to regain her composure. “I understand that,” she said softly. “I really do. But it’s hard. All of this, everything, it’s just too much.”

Tyler’s expression softened slightly, the anger in him cooling. He stepped closer, his tone gentler now. “I know. But we can’t just ignore everything because it’s hard, Naomi. Olivia needs us right now, and we need to be strong for her. She’s going through something none of us can fully understand.”

Naomi nodded, taking a deep breath as she tried to steady herself. “You’re right. I’ll try to be more supportive. I just… I’m scared too. Scared that everything will fall apart, that I won’t be able to fix it.”

Tyler sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “None of us can fix everything. But we can be there for each other. That’s all we can do right now.”

There was a long silence between them as they both grappled with the weight of the situation. Naomi finally spoke, her voice small but resolute. “I want to help. I want to be there for Olivia, even if it means putting my own feelings aside.”

Tyler looked at her, the hard edge of his earlier words fading. “Thank you, Naomi. That’s all I needed to hear.”

Naomi’s eyes flickered with something akin to gratitude, and for the first time in a long while, they seemed to find some semblance of understanding between them. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start.

As Tyler turned to leave the room, he paused for a moment, glancing back at Naomi. “Let’s just focus on Olivia right now, okay? We’ll figure everything else out later.”

Naomi nodded, her expression more composed now. “I understand.”

With that, Tyler left the room, his mind still heavy with worry, but the weight of his frustration with Naomi lifting just a little. There was no easy solution to their tangled web of emotions and responsibilities, but for the first time in a while, they seemed to be on the same page, even if just for a brief moment.

As he made his way back to Olivia, Tyler’s thoughts lingered on her. She was the center of everything now, and no matter the complexities of their relationships, he knew that his focus had to remain on her well-being.
