Chapter_220
The long-haired young man suddenly drove his fist into Skadi’s chest.
A sickening crack rang out.
Her body arched backward like a bowstring pulled taut, then snapped violently. The back of her white martial arts uniform tore open with a thunderous burst, revealing a fist-sized hole.
“Skadi!”
Nash’s brows knitted into a sharp line. In the blink of an eye, his figure blurred—he was already sprinting toward the stage.
At the same moment, Newi moved too, becoming a streak of motion as he bolted forward.
Just as the long-haired young man collapsed to the ground, Nash lifted his foot to strike him down. But before the blow could land, it collided with Newi’s intercepting kick.
Boom!
The ground of the martial arts stage cracked like glass under the sheer force of their clash.
A flying stone, sharp as a dagger, whistled through the air and pierced the young man’s eye with a sickening squelch.
Newi staggered back three steps before regaining his balance.
Nash knelt beside Skadi, gently gathering her into his arms as he assessed her injuries.
Her condition was dire.
The bones in her chest had shattered. Her cardiovascular system was in disarray. She was one breath away from death.
Nash pressed his palm to her chest, pouring his true energy directly into her heart, doing everything he could to stabilize her crumbling life force.
His expression turned dark—darker than a thundercloud before a storm.
He had anticipated underhanded tactics from the Ihara Martial Arts School. What he hadn’t expected was a blatant violation of the rules, carried out before hundreds of witnesses.
Skadi wasn’t just a student.
She was Hera’s dearest friend.
She had once risked her life to protect Hera.
Now that Skadi had been ambushed, something deep within Nash snapped.
The Grim Reaper’s fury had been awakened.
Could they withstand the consequences?
“Skadi… Skadi…”
Zakariah rushed to her side, his face ashen, bloodless.
Tears welled up in Justin’s eyes. “Please, Skadi… wake up!”
All around them, the students of the Hero Martial Arts School stared with reddened eyes.
Skadi had always treated them like family—taking them out for feasts, remembering their birthdays with carefully chosen gifts, and encouraging them through hardship.
Now she lay broken on the ground, betrayed by an enemy with no honor.
And no one knew if she’d ever open her eyes again.
“M-Mr. Calcraft… can Skadi be saved?” Zakariah’s voice shook. He looked completely hollowed out, like a man who’d aged ten years in a minute.
“She can be saved,” Nash replied firmly.
Having stabilized her condition, he gently lifted Skadi and carried her toward the main hall of the martial arts school.
Behind them, Newi bowed lightly and said with a flat tone, “Mr. Zabel, my grandson acted on impulse and broke the rules of the duel. We concede the second match. You’ve won two out of three rounds. That makes you today’s victor.”
But despite the formal apology, his eyes held no remorse.
In truth, Newi had not expected his grandson to break formation so early.
The original plan had been simple: throw the first match to lull the opponents into a false sense of hope. In the second, his grandson would kill Skadi—preferably within the bounds of the rules. Then the final round would be between Newi and Zakariah, ending in Zakariah’s death. That way, even if Nash acted afterward, it would be too late to stop the bloodshed.
But now the rules had been openly violated. The final round couldn’t happen.
Still, for Newi, one target had been hit.
His grandson’s attack had struck Skadi’s heart directly with the full force of a stage nine Energy Cultivation Realm practitioner. Under normal circumstances, not even a deity could have saved her.
Killing Skadi had always been part of the plan—an act of vengeance for Crow.
Zakariah’s face contorted in fury. His body trembled—and then he spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed, unconscious.
Newi turned with a faint smile and departed with the members of the Ihara Martial Arts School, leaving behind devastation in his wake.
Elsewhere, Helena snapped several photos and immediately sent them to Hera, along with a chilling message:
[Hera, come to Hero Martial Arts School quickly if you want to see your best friend one last time.]
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Kai—pleased with how events had played out—turned to his companion. “Simon, let’s take Hidden-Ghost Juggernaut to the Chateau Hotel for dinner tonight.”
Simon gave a subtle nod. “I’ll arrange it immediately.”
But Olivia, seated nearby, abruptly stood up. Her eyes were cold and unyielding.
“The Chateau Hotel will be closed tonight.”
