Chapter_286
The cool evening air drifted through the garden outside the villa, but Nash was barely aware of it as he sat there, a cigarette dangling from his fingers. The quiet was shattered by a familiar voice that made him jump slightly. He quickly extinguished his cigarette and turned toward the source of the sound.
“What do you mean Young? I’m a Calcraft!” he said with a forced smile, trying to deflect the conversation.
Lydia, standing a few feet away, scrutinized him intently. Her sharp gaze fell on the ring on his finger—the same one she had noticed before, the one her grandfather had worn in a portrait from over eighty years ago. “I saw the ring in my grandfather’s portrait,” she began, her voice low with intrigue. “About eighty years ago, my grandfather met someone from the Young family. There’s a painting of them shaking hands, and the man wore the same ring. The shape of the ring was even drawn on the back of the painting. When you opened the Box of Light, I recognized it immediately!”
Nash stiffened slightly, but he kept his composure, the corners of his mouth curling upward despite his unease. “Mom… you’re overthinking it. Let’s just hurry back and rest.”
He didn’t want to entertain this conversation. The mystery surrounding his family’s connections to the Young family was something he knew very little about, and he had no intention of revealing any secrets, especially not now. His father, Herman, had always kept tight-lipped about the past, and Nash wasn’t ready to pry any deeper into matters that were beyond his control.
Lydia seemed to sense his discomfort. “I’m sorry… I’ve been drinking too much and overthinking things,” she said, shaking her head. She turned to head back into the villa, but there was a lingering curiosity in her eyes that Nash couldn’t ignore.
Inside the villa, the atmosphere was casual, but Hera and Yvonne were deep in conversation, wine glasses in hand, as they bantered back and forth. Yvonne laughed, trying to coax Hera into drinking more. “Don’t drink too much, Hera! Otherwise, you’ll lose your head later, and Nash won’t be able to take it anymore!”
Hera, eyes narrowing, playfully shot back, “Tsk… what are you talking about? Nash and I are husband and wife in theory, but we haven’t made it real yet!”
Yvonne gasped dramatically. “No way! You’re so conservative even in this day and age?”
“There’s too much going on lately,” Hera sighed, her voice carrying a hint of frustration. “On my birthday, something was supposed to happen with Nash, but family issues came up. Then more problems followed, and we haven’t had much time together since.”
Before the conversation could continue, Lydia appeared, urging them to rest. “You two should stop drinking so much and go to bed earlier!” she nagged, heading upstairs.
But just as Yvonne was about to protest and raise her glass, a sudden explosion shook the villa. Both Hera and Yvonne jumped, eyes wide with shock, as the sound reverberated through the walls.
Nash strolled casually into the living room, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Hera, still startled, quickly asked, “What was that sound?”
“Finn just fell down,” Nash replied with a shrug, his voice nonchalant.
The truth was far different. Outside the villa, Nash had just disposed of a group of Level Nine Grandmasters who had been foolish enough to challenge him. As he cleaned up the body of one of the fallen attackers, the corner of Finn’s mouth twitched. “Motherf*cker… how did he cause the sound of an explosion just by falling down?”
Nearby, Xeno put out the flames on another body with a fire extinguisher, his voice laced with frustration. “I can’t believe this group of little boys dared to come back for Mr. Nash. They underestimated him!”
The bodies of the seven attackers were quickly gathered together, their lifeless forms a testament to Nash’s overwhelming power. Xeno shook his head in disbelief. “Seven Great-Grandmasters… and Mr. Nash took only ten seconds to deal with them?”
Finn, adjusting his sunglasses, folded them up with a smirk. “Judging by the energy fluctuations when they attacked, they were likely Great-Grandmasters.”
“Seven Great-Grandmasters? Mr. Nash did all that in ten seconds?” Xeno swallowed hard, his throat tight with awe.
Finn shook his head, taking a deep breath. “Mr. Nash’s power is unfathomable, especially considering his assassination skills. He didn’t need me to show up for revenge—he just didn’t want to kill Winnie in one move.”
Back inside, the atmosphere had shifted. The tension from the outside world seemed far away as Hera leaned into Nash’s arms, her voice soft and drunken. “Babe… I want a kiss!”
She pouted playfully, waiting for him to oblige, and he did, lowering his head to kiss her warm lips with a gentle yet passionate kiss.
Yvonne’s eyes widened in shock. She hadn’t expected this sudden change in the mood. “Oh my gosh…”
As she watched them, a thought crossed her mind. They were so wholesome just a moment ago, and now they’re kissing right in front of me? Her eyes shifted as she realized they weren’t holding back. Damn! They’re using tongue too!
