Chapter_276
The middle-aged man’s pain was evident in the primal scream that tore through the air. Bound to the prison chair, tears streamed down his face as he bellowed in anguish. His words, laced with betrayal, echoed against the cold walls. “Stellar, I treat you like my brother, yet you’re so cruel to me!”
Stellar’s expression twisted with fury, his anger barely contained. “You betrayed the warden. Even if you were my father, it’d still be unacceptable!” The weight of his words hit harder than any blow, and the pain of seeing a once-cherished friend reduced to this was unbearable.
The middle-aged man, gasping for breath, looked up at him. “Just kill me! I’ll never tell you anything! I just beg of you to make it quick since I took a bullet for you once.”
The raw emotion in his voice made Stellar’s heart ache, but his resolve remained unshaken. “You disappoint me, Harry,” he muttered, his voice tinged with regret. With a final flick of his wrist, he hurled the soldering iron into the brazier, its sharp, metallic clang reverberating through the prison’s sterile halls. He turned on his heel, walking out with a heavy heart, the sense of betrayal gnawing at him like a poison.
This prison, originally built to detain foreign agents and criminals, had never been meant to house someone as close as Harry. But now, it felt like a prison of his own making—one he couldn’t escape from.
A soldier appeared at the door, standing stiffly at attention. “Colonel, the warden is looking for you.”
Stellar nodded curtly, his emotions still in turmoil. He followed the soldier down the corridors of the facility, his mind clouded by the recent events.
Inside the warden’s office, Philix sat behind his desk, his eyes sharp and calculating. He was no longer the frail man he had once been. After recovering from his injuries, his health had returned, and with it, his aura of authority. As soon as he saw Stellar enter, his gaze hardened, as though already knowing what the outcome had been. “He still refuses to reveal anything?” Philix asked, his voice calm but tinged with an edge of frustration.
Stellar exhaled deeply, his frustration evident. “The guy is hopeless…” His words hung in the air, heavy with the disappointment of having to confront a man who had once been a brother in arms but had now chosen silence over loyalty.
He then shifted the conversation. “Sir, why were you looking for me?”
Philix’s expression softened slightly, but only for a moment. “Tomorrow is the anniversary of the death of my people,” he said quietly. “I plan to go back to Goldenfalls to pay my respects. I want you to come with me.”
The request was simple, but the weight behind it was profound. For Stellar, it was a call to confront the past—a past that still haunted him and Philix alike. But, for now, there was no room for hesitation. Duty called, and he would answer.
Meanwhile, in Royal Bay Villa, Nash was busy navigating the shadowy recesses of the dark web, hoping to find the answers he needed. Borrowing Hera’s laptop, he masked the IP address with a variety of technical tricks and entered a strange, cryptic website. The black-and-red panels that greeted him seemed almost alive, the crackling font giving the page an unsettling aura of menace. The words “dark web” burned on the screen like a warning sign.
“Ah, what’s the account password again?” Nash muttered, scratching his head as he tried to recall the details.
Just then, Yvonne entered, holding a cup of milk, her curiosity piqued by the sight of Nash’s activity. “Wow, Nash. You can actually enter the dark web?” she asked, impressed.
Nash glanced over at her, a playful smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Shouldn’t you knock before entering other people’s rooms?”
Yvonne, unfazed, shot back with a grin, “You didn’t close the door.”
Before Nash could respond, a voice echoed from downstairs. “Yvonne, my best friend is here. Come down and let me introduce you to her!” It was Hera, calling her up to meet Bianca and Skadi.
“Ah, coming!” Yvonne replied, flashing Nash a bright smile before bouncing out of the room. She closed the door behind her, leaving Nash to continue his task.
With a sigh, Nash returned to the laptop, his hands hovering over the keyboard. He entered the password, but it was wrong. He tried again, but still, no success. Six more attempts, each one ending in failure. His frustration grew, but at last, the screen flashed, and he was granted access to the dark web.
A notification popped up, showing the ‘ultimate dark web’ button at the top right corner. He clicked it and was prompted for another password. After entering it, a face recognition check appeared on the screen.
Nash sat up straighter, preparing for the process. He faced the camera with determination, his features hardening as the system processed his facial scan. After a tense moment, the screen flickered and granted him access. The ultimate dark web was now open before him.
Immediately, a message box popped up, filled with 99+ unread messages. The sheer volume was overwhelming. As Nash scanned through the list, his heart raced. What had he gotten himself into this time?
With Stellar confronting his own betrayal and Nash diving deeper into the dangerous underworld of the dark web, both men were on the precipice of something far greater than they could have imagined. Their paths were intertwined with forces beyond their control, and the consequences of their actions were about to unfold in ways they couldn’t predict.
Would Stellar continue his descent into darkness, or would he find redemption? Would Nash unlock the secrets hidden in the dark web, or would he uncover a greater conspiracy that threatened everything he had worked for?
