Chapter_244
“Babe…” Olivia picked up the phone, her voice barely above a whisper so as not to wake Nash. “Why are you still up?”
“I was woken up,” Theo replied, his voice sharp with urgency. “Oli, something serious happened in Jonford!”
Olivia’s brows drew together. “What happened?”
She heard the flick of a lighter, then a long inhale of breath on the other end. Theo exhaled smoke before speaking again. “The Green Bamboo Association sent six Juggernauts to Jonford, right? Nutcracker Juggernaut, Giant Juggernaut, and Unibrow Juggernaut are dead. Along with them, thirty grandmasters from the Association are gone too.”
Olivia’s heart skipped a beat.
Her eyes darted to the rearview mirror, where Nash lay slumped in sleep, still and bruised.
Theo’s voice came through the line again. “It was probably Nash. Let Xeno stick close to him these next few days—he might know someone who can help handle any problems Nash runs into.”
“…Alright. I understand.”
“And Olivia,” Theo added, his tone heavier now, “Howard is dead too. The Five Business Giants have disbanded. Another family’s going to fall soon. Jonford’s about to go up in flames. Grandpa’s already arranging for two masters to come to your house to keep watch.”
“…Okay,” Olivia said quietly.
The call ended, leaving only the hum of the engine and the soft crackle of static silence. But Olivia’s mind was racing.
Three Juggernauts. Howard. Thirty elite grandmasters.
Gone.
And Nash had done it?
Nutcracker Juggernaut alone was a name that had haunted her father’s generation. In the chaotic early years, his cruelty and brutality had made him infamous. Only after the Green Bamboo Association unified its power did the Juggernauts fade from the limelight.
Now, three of them were gone in a single night.
There would be a storm tomorrow.
Nash stirred, yawning. “We here already?” His voice was rough, drowsy. “Why didn’t you wake me?”
Olivia turned and smiled gently. “You looked like you were finally resting. I didn’t want to disturb you.”
He opened the door and stepped out of the car. “Thanks for everything. Go get some rest, you’ve done enough tonight.”
It was nearly 3 a.m., and Nash knew Olivia had been running around tirelessly for his sake. He was grateful. But their relationship had clear boundaries—Olivia was Theo’s wife. To Nash, she was like a sister.
That bond gave them trust—but it also required distance.
His plan was to leave no trace.
By tomorrow, the Green Bamboo Association would begin investigating and monitoring Chateau Hotel. All they’d find was footage of Nash treating Mr. Lee—administering massages, playing the role of a humble caretaker. Nothing suspicious.
But as he stepped forward, something caught his attention.
A scent.
Rotting flesh.
A corpse—no more than three hours dead.
His eyes narrowed. Kristian? Had he taken his own life?
Nash followed the scent trail quietly to a nearby park, where he found the body of a young martial arts student. His jaw clenched.
“They’re here…”
The realization dawned hard. The Green Bamboo Association had already begun their move—targeting Zabel’s villa.
Fortunately, Justin Yang was out there, playing the role of the Smiling Grim Reaper. That deception alone had been enough to make the remaining Juggernauts hesitate. Fear clouded their judgment, and Nash had seized that opportunity to approach their lair without resistance.
If they didn’t disband, he would see to it they were destroyed. If they did, the illusion of the Smiling Grim Reaper would protect Zabel’s household, buying Nash time and influence.
He dragged the corpse silently through the garden back toward the villa.
Zakariah opened the door, then stepped back in shock. “What… what is this?!”
Nash dropped the body on the ground and gave a curt nod.
“I’ll explain,” he said.
