Chapter_287
Yvonne sat on the couch, her eyes wide with disbelief as she covered her face in embarrassment. “Are you usually so shameless?” she groaned, but her words went ignored as Nash and Hera continued their private moment, oblivious to her presence. The minutes seemed to stretch on, leaving Yvonne more dumbfounded by the second.
After about three minutes, Hera, slightly breathless, whispered in a soft, teasing voice, “Babe, carry me to the room!”
Nash, chuckling, scooped her up effortlessly, and the two disappeared up the stairs to the master bedroom, leaving Yvonne alone to process the situation.
‘Please, were they leaving the rest up to my imagination?’ Yvonne thought in disbelief. She waited, a slight blush creeping onto her face, but curiosity was too strong to keep her distracted for long. She quickly busied herself with making a cup of tea, trying to shake off the awkwardness.
A few minutes later, Nash returned to the living room, looking unfazed. Yvonne, still in a state of mild shock, blinked at him. “You’re… you’re done?”
Nash shrugged casually. “It’s not that difficult to coax a drunk woman to sleep.”
It was already nearing eleven o’clock, and Nash had places to be. He had to head to the apartment in Rex District to pick up some clothes, then meet with the Green Bamboo Association in the South Suburb.
Yvonne raised an eyebrow, trying to mask her growing amusement. “Tsk tsk tsk… are you even a man? You had a chance and didn’t take it!”
Nash shot her a side glance, a smirk forming on his lips. “Damn kid… seems like you know a lot about the subject?”
Yvonne’s face turned mockingly innocent as she batted her eyelashes. “Nonsense! I’m so pure and innocent!”
Nash’s laughter echoed softly in the room, his mood light as he prepared to leave. Yvonne watched him for a moment before asking, “Where are you going this late at night? Aren’t you going to spend the night with my cousin?”
“I’m going for a walk,” Nash replied, already moving toward the door.
“I wanna go too!” Yvonne called out, eager to escape the growing tension inside.
Nash paused and then turned. “Alright, put on your shoes and I’ll be waiting outside.”
Yvonne immediately started rummaging for her shoes, a bit of impatience in her movements. After a couple of minutes, she reached for her make-up pouch, and it took another ten minutes before she finally emerged from the villa.
Nash was standing outside, waiting.
At half-past eleven, the streets of Rex District were quiet. Finn, squatting on the side of the road, smoked his cigarette with a look of boredom. His peace was broken when the sleek Audi rolled to a stop. Xeno got out and opened the passenger door for Nash, who jumped from the fence with a fluid motion and slid into the car at lightning speed.
Finn dropped his cigarette, startled by the sudden appearance. “Who… who are you?”
“It’s Mr. Nash,” Xeno explained, his voice full of reverence.
Finn blinked in disbelief. “Damn, this outfit is so cool. When do I get one?” He hurriedly climbed into the car, still awestruck.
As the car sped off, Nash remained composed, his eyes sharp and calculating. The Imperial Summer Manor in the South Suburb awaited, a quiet but ominous place far removed from the bustle of the city.
The manor was vast, with a large, dimly lit square at its heart. Late autumn had descended, and no tourists had visited for months. The lights were broken in parts of the square, and only the pale glow of the moon illuminated the scene. The air felt dense with secrets, and the shadows seemed to stretch longer than they should have.
Seven Juggernauts stood under the dim lights, their presence commanding and regal. Behind them, more than two hundred martial artists and a thousand inner-energy warriors lurked in the darkness, waiting for a single command to spring into action, like an army ready for battle.
The Grim-Faced Juggernaut, his expression dark and grim, spoke with authority. “Nobody sent to Royal Bay can be reached. It seems like they’ve met their demise!”
The Hidden-Ghost Juggernaut, his eyes narrowed with suspicion, frowned deeply. “I can’t reach anyone sent to the Zabel family either. Could it be that there are still more experts there?”
The tension in the air grew thicker, and the Juggernauts’ dignified auras made the atmosphere feel heavy with impending conflict. The night was far from over, and Nash’s involvement in this unfolding drama was only beginning to reveal itself.
