Chapter_235
Justin couldn’t fathom what was going wrong. His mission had been clear: to pretend to be the Smiling Grim Reaper and stay by Skadi’s side, providing a sense of mystery and protection. Yet, he had dashed off before even a minute had passed. He had to face the consequences for this recklessness, no matter what.
After Justin, disguised as the Smiling Grim Reaper, landed with impossible speed and disappeared in a flash, Bianca rubbed her eyes in disbelief. “What was that? Did you see how fast he was?”
It had been so fast that she hadn’t even been able to track his movement. That speed was beyond what she thought was possible, leaving her stunned.
Meanwhile, at Kai’s villa in Royal Bay, Simon had just informed him of Bianca’s victory over Wanda. Kai’s face twisted with anger as he slammed his fist on the table.
“Damn it!” he cursed. “Skadi and Bianca, neither one is dead. This is all a waste of our money!” His frustration was palpable.
Simon, trying to calm him down, reassured, “Patience, Mr. Kai. Tonight will be the real turning point. Bianca’s at the Zabels’ residence, and the Green Bamboo Association is going to destroy their entire family tonight. We’ll hear good news by tomorrow morning.”
As the tension simmered, Iron-Kick George entered the room, bowing slightly. “Sir, the head is here.”
Kai’s eyebrows arched in surprise. “What’s he doing here?”
“He’s brought a guest with him,” George replied.
Kai’s face shifted from annoyance to curiosity. “Who’s the guest?”
“The Smiling Grim Reaper,” George answered.
At the mention of the Smiling Grim Reaper, Kai’s frown deepened. He exchanged a brief look with Simon and Duncan, then instructed, “You two, go upstairs and hide for now.”
His grandfather had strictly told him to stay away from Simon, and the last thing Kai wanted was for him to get into trouble over his association with Simon and Duncan. They quickly retreated to the second floor as Kai made his way downstairs to greet their guests.
As Walter Watson, the richest man in Jonford, entered the room with the Smiling Grim Reaper in tow, Justin couldn’t hide his panic. The night had taken an unexpected turn. His cousin had just finished his outfit, but Justin still didn’t have the mask. He had to race through several streets before finding one identical to the Smiling Grim Reaper’s signature mask.
But then, disaster struck. On his way to the Zabels’ residence, Justin accidentally crashed into Walter’s car. Walter Watson, a man of immense power and wealth, was someone Justin had only seen on TV. He was an intimidating figure, and Justin had no idea how to handle the situation.
Expecting anger, Justin was surprised when Walter seemed equally nervous. Instead of a confrontation, Walter invited Justin to his home for tea. Justin had been in such a rush that he didn’t know how to politely refuse. And so, he ended up accompanying Walter to Royal Bay.
Along the way, Walter treated him with the utmost respect, to the point of almost calling him a forebearer, which left Justin feeling both perplexed and oddly honored.
Inside the Watson villa, Kai was visibly taken aback by the arrival of the Smiling Grim Reaper. His heart raced with both fear and excitement. He hadn’t expected his grandfather to invite such an infamous figure into their home.
Walter, ever the gracious host, hurriedly ordered, “Go and make some tea. Bring out the aged tea grandfather sent over last time.”
Kai nodded and went to prepare the tea, but Justin’s nerves were slowly easing as he began to feel a strange sense of pride. Was this what it meant to be respected? The Watsons seemed to have revered him, almost as if he were a powerful figure in his own right.
As he began to relax, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, he froze. Coming down the stairs in a cute purple spaghetti-strap nightgown was Queenie Watson, the nation’s goddess. She looked as beautiful as ever, her slender legs and delicate features more stunning up close than in any of the posters that adorned his walls.
Justin’s eyes widened in disbelief. Queenie Watson was standing right there in front of him. His heart thudded in his chest as he realized he was seeing her in her nightwear—an image he had only ever dreamed of.
But Queenie’s excitement broke through his daze. “Ah! The Smiling Grim Reaper!” she exclaimed with an infectious enthusiasm.
Justin, flustered and overwhelmed by the situation, didn’t know what to say. He could hardly believe his eyes.
