Chapter_278
Nash’s tone, laced with a trace of regret, caught Xeno off guard. “I just ate. If you had told me earlier, I’d still be able to eat!” Despite the awkwardness of the situation, Nash’s response seemed casual, almost as if he had no fear of what awaited him at the Dynasty Grand Hotel. But Xeno, with his usual stoic expression, remained uncertain. It was clear the Green Bamboo Association was making a move, and it wasn’t to extend a warm welcome.
Finn’s expression mirrored his confusion, his mind racing to piece together the implications of Nash’s actions. The Green Bamboo Association wanted to invite Nash? Was he somehow connected to them, or was this a trap?
“It’s hard to decline such a generous invitation. Wouldn’t it be disrespectful if we don’t go?” Nash said, sliding into the BMW with a nonchalant smile.
Finn stood frozen outside the car, his brows furrowed in confusion. “Aren’t you coming?” Nash asked, his eyes flickering with a hint of impatience.
The question weighed heavily on Finn. He was caught in a dilemma, unsure whether to trust Nash or to distance himself from the brewing conflict. Finally, he asked, “Since you guys are going to dinner, then I guess I won’t be joining?”
Nash, however, just smiled cryptically and turned to Xeno. “Is Winnie Enders there?”
Xeno nodded, his face serious. “Winnie is the grandson of the Hooligan Juggernaut. He’s come to Jonford this time.”
Finn’s blood ran cold. The mention of Winnie Enders triggered a flash of bitter memories. Winnie was the one who had cut off his father’s finger, and now Nash was leading him straight into the heart of the Green Bamboo Association. But what was Nash’s real agenda here? Was this a chance for Finn to get his revenge, or was he simply a pawn in Nash’s greater game?
Nash’s words snapped him out of his reverie. “Winnie Enders cut off your father’s finger. Don’t you want to come with me and get your revenge?”
The suggestion hung in the air, heavy and loaded. Finn’s shock was palpable. Nash and the Green Bamboo Association were enemies, but Nash was inviting him into the lion’s den.
“Stop dilly-dallying. Get in the car!” Nash urged impatiently, his voice brokering no argument. Finn, caught in a mix of hesitation and urgency, climbed into the passenger seat, his mind racing with possibilities.
At the Dynasty Grand Hotel, the scene inside was one of luxury and excess, with the Green Bamboo Association taking over the venue entirely. The hotel manager, shaking with fear, reported back to the four Juggernauts of the association, all of whom had made the hotel their private domain for the evening.
In a plush private room, Hugh Sullivan, the grandson of the Velvet-Thunder Juggernaut, lounged with a cigar in hand. He was surrounded by luxury, his arm wrapped around a beautiful woman. As the hotel manager approached him with a nervous expression, Hugh’s smile widened. “What a small world it is, running into Felicity here! Tell her, I, Hugh Sullivan, would like to invite her to dinner.”
The hotel manager quickly retreated, fully aware of the danger he was in. The Green Bamboo Association controlled the room, and the presence of the grandchildren of the Ten Juggernauts and other influential figures only heightened the sense of power that permeated the space. Among them was Winnie Enders, grandson of the Hooligan Juggernaut, who leaned back with a cynical grin, puffing smoke from his cigar.
Meanwhile, Felicity, already tipsy from the alcohol, was jolted to attention at the mention of Hugh’s name. “That guy is actually in Jonford?” she muttered, her gaze hardening.
Angelica, still buzzed from the drink, furrowed her brows. “Is it the same Hugh who bullied your brother?”
Felicity nodded, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. “Yeap, it’s him. I’d like to see what his tricks are!” With determination, she stood up, ready to confront her past.
“I’ll go by myself,” Felicity decided, stepping away from the manager and heading toward the room where the Green Bamboo Association had gathered.
In the private room, the tension was thick. The grandchildren of the Ten Juggernauts sat around the table, each with their own agenda, their eyes sharp as they surveyed the newcomers. Winnie Enders, the self-assured heir of the Hooligan Juggernaut, couldn’t resist throwing a barb at Kai Watson, one of the most notable figures in Jonford’s business world.
“Mr. Kai,” Winnie said with a smirk, “I heard Walter Watson kicked you out of the family. Yet, you somehow still have the galls to come here.”
The others held back their smiles, clearly enjoying the spectacle of Jonford’s once-mighty business scion now struggling to regain his footing. Kai Watson, who had shaved his beard and donned an expensive suit to salvage some of his former image, took the insult in stride. His face remained cynical, the mask of arrogance that had once been his trademark firmly in place.
The others, including Xavier Lambert and Taka Ihara, exchanged knowing glances, all too aware of the shifting power dynamics.
As the dinner unfolded, the atmosphere was charged with tension. Felicity was about to walk into a nest of vipers, and Nash, alongside his unlikely companion Finn, was moving deeper into a web of alliances and grudges.
Was the invitation a chance for Finn to exact his revenge on Winnie and the Green Bamboo Association, or would this gathering turn into something far more dangerous for everyone involved?
The pieces were in motion, and Nash’s next move would shape the course of the evening.
