Chapter_204
Felicity paused mid-greet, her eyes narrowing as she recognized the storm brewing on her grandfather’s face. The white-haired patriarch strode forward, each step echoing on the marble floor.
“Caleb!” he thundered. “You will return that child to Whitney Yanders tonight—no excuses. He is Snyder blood.”
Caleb straightened, his usual grin replaced by a grudging respect. “Understood, Grandfather.”
The assembled aunts and uncles murmured among themselves, relief and curiosity mingling in their voices. Felicity placed a steadying hand on her grandfather’s arm.
“Sir, I assure you we will handle this personally,” she said crisply. “My brother is already on his way to make amends.”
Her grandfather’s fierce gaze softened just a fraction. “Good. And the rest of you”—he nodded at Nash and Angelica—“thank you for coming today. You’ve earned your passage home.”
Nash inclined his head. “It was our pleasure, sir. Safe travels to Sagen—Captain White will lead the inspection there.”
Angelica offered the family a respectful bow. “Thank you, sir, and Grandfather Snyder. We will always protect the name Snyder.”
With that, the Snyder elders melted back into the mansion’s wings, leaving Nash, Angelica, and Felicity alone in the grand foyer.
Felicity exhaled sharply. “That was the easiest ‘family favor’ I’ve ever arranged.” She flashed a conspiratorial smile. “Now—airport?”
Nash chuckled as he retrieved his wallet. “After you, Deputy Chief.”
Angelica fell into step beside them. “Between the Telfair Hotel raid tonight and Whitney’s situation, this is going to be a long evening.”
Felicity shrugged on her sunglasses. “All in a day’s work. Let’s get you two to your flight—before my family changes their minds.”
Outside, the Snyder Ferrari purred to life once more. As they pulled away down the sweeping drive, each of them felt the pull of the next challenge: a high-stakes hotel bust, a family reconciliation, and, looming on the horizon, the whispered promise of that Alpine gala—where whispered secrets might finally unmask the man behind the curtain at the Chateau.
Together, they sped toward the airport, the late afternoon sun painting long shadows on the road—shadows they were determined to outpace.
