Chapter 200
Felicity arrived at the tree where the sniper had been hiding, but all she found was Nash, his figure appearing almost out of nowhere.
“Nash? When did you get here?” she asked, confusion coloring her voice as she walked briskly towards him.
She hadn’t seen Nash since she had lunged at the burly man with Angelica. It had only taken her a few minutes to reach this side of the shore, after hearing the deafening gunshot. She hadn’t noticed Nash at the bridge earlier, either.
“Was it Wesley who shot just now?” she asked quickly. “Where is he?”
Her gaze darted to the tree, but Nash wasn’t looking at it—his focus was somewhere else entirely.
“People from the Sky Blade Group took him,” Nash said, narrowing his eyes as he turned to face her, then vanished in a blur of motion.
Felicity’s pupils shrank in shock. “He’s fast…”
On an open grassy field outside Bronze Town, two burly middle-aged men were struggling to carry the dazed Wesley toward a waiting helicopter.
“I’ll give you 140 million dollars if you let me go!” Wesley grunted, trying desperately to free himself. But the anesthetic in his system dulled his strength, making any escape impossible.
One of the muscular men, emotionless, replied, “We swore an oath when we joined the Sky Blade Group. We will never betray the organization in this life or the next.”
The promise of wealth was tempting—140 million dollars would change their lives, set them up for good, free from fear of poverty. But still, they held firm to their oath. They couldn’t betray the group.
Wesley was forced onto the helicopter, and the two men climbed in after him. As the pilot started the engine, the propellers roared to life, and the helicopter quickly ascended into the sky.
Suddenly, there was a sharp jolt, and the helicopter shook violently. The two men tensed, looking at each other in confusion.
“What’s going on?” the man in the back asked, his voice sharp with concern.
“I think… that was a person?” the pilot responded, panic creeping into his voice.
The other muscular man quickly opened the helicopter door and peered down, his eyes scanning the ground below.
Then, from below, a figure shot up like a missile, grabbing onto the helicopter’s landing gear with ease. Nash swung himself up, using the momentum to clamp his legs around one of the man’s necks. With a vicious twist, Nash snapped the man’s neck, throwing his lifeless body from the helicopter.
The remaining men, now fully alert, reached for their pistols, but it was too late. Nash was already inside the cabin, and the sound of intense fighting erupted as the two sides clashed.
Moments later, Nash pressed a gun to the pilot’s head, his voice cold and commanding. “Fly back.”
The pilot froze, his hand shaking as he reached for the control panel, but Wesley’s voice cut through the tension. “That’s the self-destruct button!” he shouted, his eyes wide with horror.
Before Wesley could stop him, Nash shoved him aside and pushed the pilot out of the way. In a desperate move, Wesley lunged for Nash, grabbing his wrist and yanking him toward the door.
Boom!
The helicopter erupted into a fiery ball, its explosion lighting up the night sky as Nash and Wesley were thrown from the wreckage. They plummeted from a thousand meters above the ground, the earth rapidly rushing toward them.
Felicity watched, frozen in place, her heart pounding as she saw the explosion from a distance. She had relied on her instincts to catch up to Nash, but now, all she could see was the massive fireball in the sky.
Nash, however, wasn’t done. He clutched Wesley’s wrist tightly as they fell, the ground below them drawing closer with terrifying speed. A hundred meters from impact, Nash summoned every last ounce of his strength and twisted in midair, throwing Wesley with all his might onto the grassy area by the cliff.
Boom!
The two bodies hit the earth with a force that seemed impossible, but both men survived the impossible fall. Wesley, shaken but alive, groaned as he lay on the ground, while Nash, exhausted but still standing, looked down at him.
Felicity arrived moments later, breathless, her gaze shifting between the wreckage in the sky and the two men on the ground. She couldn’t believe what had just happened.
