Chapter 160
A calm, composed voice broke the tense silence as a group of people entered through the main entrance. Olivia, flanked by her parents and their bodyguards, walked into the room.
Queenie, who had been standing near the group, froze in shock. Her family, the Watsons, were the wealthiest in Jonford. Her older brother held a premium membership at the Chateau Hotel, and yet the Lee family was asking such esteemed guests to leave the premises.
Helena’s face drained of color as she clutched the hem of her shirt tightly, struggling to accept the reality that they were about to be removed from the Chateau Hotel. The thought of leaving this prestigious venue was unbearable.
“Hey, Lee! Mr. Kai holds a premium membership at the Chateau Hotel! Do you really have the guts to have such a respected guest kicked out?” Rooney’s voice rang out, filled with indignation as he glared at Olivia.
Olivia remained unfazed. Her response was measured and calm, betraying no hint of concern. “You may have misheard me, Mr. Rooney. I did not say I was kicking anyone out. I simply requested that Mr. Watson and his companions leave.”
Hearing this, Rooney’s expression softened, and he muttered to himself, “Did you hear that, Helena? She won’t kick us out!” He sighed in quiet relief, knowing how embarrassing it would have been if they had been forcibly removed.
Helena’s gaze dropped to the floor, her mind swirling with shame. She knew Olivia was just offering a polite escape, out of respect for the Watsons. But the sting of rejection still lingered.
Kai, however, wasn’t about to let things slide so easily. His eyes narrowed, and a glint of annoyance flashed across his face. “Our grandfathers were old friends, Olivia. Don’t you think this is a bit much?”
His words carried weight. The Watson family was powerful, and everyone in Jonford knew it. But Olivia’s calm demeanor didn’t falter. She smiled gently, offering a graceful response. “Please, Mr. Kai, do not be upset. This was done at Theo’s request. If you have any issues, you may direct them to him.”
At the mention of Theo Skye’s name, Kai’s expression darkened. Theo, a member of the Skye family, wasn’t someone whose power could be easily ignored. The Skye family was a superpower in Capiton, and to them, the Watsons were small fry—hardly worth the time or effort.
“Theo,” Kai muttered under his breath, bitterness edging his tone. Though the Watsons were the wealthiest family in Jonford, the Skye family’s assets—worth trillions since the eighties—made the Watsons’ wealth seem insignificant. It wasn’t the money that mattered to them. It was power, connections—and Nash had made a name for himself, enough to earn the Skye family’s favor.
Queenie, desperate to salvage the situation, whispered to Kai, “Why don’t we ask Grandpa if he can speak to Theo? We have a premium membership, after all. Surely he wouldn’t be so cruel, would he?”
But Kai only sighed, shaking his head. “You underestimate the Skye family’s power…”
He glanced at her, knowing the Watsons’ premium membership was valuable, but it was nothing compared to the weight that Nash’s connection with the Skye family carried. Even a $20 billion processing fee for a premium membership was small change in comparison to the vast empire that Theo controlled.
Before Queenie could argue further, Kai was already turning to leave. He didn’t even look back once. His pride wouldn’t allow him to stay in a place where he wasn’t welcomed.
“Mr. Kai, don’t leave! Mr. Kai!” Rooney’s voice rose in a desperate screech, but Kai didn’t stop.
“They aren’t even planning on kicking us out! What am I supposed to tell my daughter now if you leave?” Rooney continued, her voice shrill with panic.
Hubert, clearly embarrassed, stepped forward, slapping a hand over his wife’s mouth. “Can you stop embarrassing us, Rooney? Even an idiot can see what you’re doing—trying to get dinner at the Chateau Hotel.”
As the Watsons floundered in their frustration, Olivia, the calm presence amidst the chaos, approached Nash and the others. She smiled apologetically. “Sorry I’m late, Nash!” she said, offering a polite bow of respect.
Nash, momentarily snapped out of his thoughts, returned her smile. “No, no, it’s fine. Thank you for coming all the way here, and I apologize for the trouble.”
With the tension finally beginning to settle, the atmosphere shifted. Olivia’s poise, combined with Nash’s cool demeanor, ensured that the night continued on a different course—one that left the Watsons to stew in their frustration while the true VIPs took center stage.
