Chapter 152
Skadi suddenly called out to Nash, her voice cutting through the evening air.
“Come on, Nash! Over here!”
Without hesitation, Nash made his way toward the group. Skadi had already picked the perfect spot, adjusting the camera settings for night mode before stepping into the center of the rose heart with Hera. She positioned themselves, making a large heart with their arms, and smiled brightly for the camera.
Nash clicked a few pictures, each one capturing their joyful expressions, the kind of beauty that could stop anyone in their tracks. Skadi changed their poses multiple times, and laughter flowed between the two women like an infectious melody. Nearby, a group of men couldn’t help but stare, visibly entranced by the sight of the two stunning women.
After a few more shots, Skadi swapped places with Nash to capture pictures of him with Hera. Just as the couple posed for the camera, Carmen arrived with her boyfriend in tow.
A sly smile tugged at Carmen’s lips as she walked over, her voice tinged with amusement. “Darling, let me tell you something interesting. Mr. Kai’s girlfriend is my junior’s older sister!”
The man raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. “Really?”
Carmen continued, her tone almost too casual, “Today’s Hera’s birthday. Helena’s birthday is on the fifth of next month!”
The man looked puzzled. “Then why is it Helena’s birthday celebration today instead of Hera’s?”
Carmen’s laugh was cold. “There was no choice. Who’s to blame Helena for finding a good man? Helena hates Hera, so she’s celebrating her birthday early to spite her.”
The man squinted, his gaze shifting to Nash. “Is that guy your junior’s boyfriend?”
Carmen nodded, her voice dripping with condescension. “Yep, I think he came from the mountains.”
A sneer played on the man’s lips. “They’re both ladies from the Lewis family, how can the difference in their fate be so drastic?”
Before either of them could say more, Bianca, clearly angered by the conversation, marched over, her hands jammed into the pockets of her windbreaker.
“Have you guys… said enough?” Bianca’s voice was low but edged with steel.
Bianca had already heard everything from Skadi, and she didn’t appreciate what she was hearing now. Helena’s boyfriend, Jonford’s richest and youngest man, commanded respect, but Carmen was just from a Second Tier Elite Family—nothing Bianca couldn’t handle. The Fisher family may not have been a First Tier Family, but with Skadi’s connections and Bianca’s own rising status, Carmen and her clique held no real power over them.
“Carmen,” Bianca started, her voice cool and firm, “if I ever catch you insulting Nash and Hera again, I won’t hesitate to make you regret it.”
Charles, Carmen’s boyfriend, darkened visibly and opened his mouth to retort, but Carmen quickly grabbed his arm, pulling him back with a dismissive gesture. “Charles, let’s not waste our time with her. People like her will never have anything good in life.”
The air between them thickened, but before anything more could be said, the sound of approaching footsteps drew everyone’s attention toward the road.
More than thirty bodyguards cleared the way as the Lewis family made their grand entrance.
Hubert, wearing a suit worth millions, walked with his head held high, a proud rooster strutting across the courtyard. His silver hair gleamed under the lights as he moved with purpose. Rooney, behind him, surveyed the crowd, hands clasped behind her back like an elegant celebrity. Cain and Herman walked alongside them, their expressions calm, with gentle smiles that radiated warmth.
This was the Chateau Hotel—no one would die without regret if they had the chance to dine here.
“Mr. Kai…” Hubert’s voice boomed with amusement. “You prepared so many roses! You’re so kind!”
Kai smiled, his expression one of quiet pride. “I didn’t actually know that my grandfather’s premium membership card had such perks.”
Though Kai had planned to use his own diamond card for the grand gesture, his grandfather insisted on lending him the card to make the event feel more… presentable.
Helena, visibly touched, looked up at him, her eyes glistening with emotion. “Thank you, Kai. This is the most unforgettable birthday I’ve ever had.”
Kai, moved by her words, leaned down and kissed her softly on the cheek. “As long as you like it,” he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
The lavish scene before them was filled with beauty and luxury, but for Hera, standing on the sidelines, the entire situation felt a little too overwhelming. It was hard not to feel the contrast between the two families—the Lewis’ opulence and Carmen’s cutting remarks. Yet, she knew she wouldn’t let it get to her. Not tonight.
Not while Kai was by Helena’s side, basking in the moment that seemed to shine so much brighter than her own.
