Chapter 147
Six bodyguards stood in a row at the elevator door, blocking the swarm of reporters eager to get through.
Queenie scowled, displeasure clear on her face. “Ignoring me, huh? Fine, then. You think you’re all that?”
Meanwhile, in the ring, the host watched as Kai entered the elevator, his face filled with worry. He quickly improvised, announcing, “It seems Mr. Kai has some urgent matters to attend to, so this time, the Phoenix Crown will be presented by Miss Queenie, the lady of Jonford’s wealthiest family.”
The spotlight shifted to Queenie, and she blinked in confusion.
“Shit, what’s going on?” she muttered, slightly dazed.
A staff member stepped up to explain the situation to her. Only then did she grasp what had transpired. After a brief pause, she smiled confidently and said, “It’s just some award, right? How hard can it be?”
She then stepped into the ring, flanked by a few bodyguards and staff members. When Queenie saw Bianca standing there, crowned as the Phoenix Crown Champion, surprise flashed across her face.
The host, eager to continue, grinned and announced, “Let’s give a warm round of applause and invite Miss Queenie to present the Phoenix Crown to the winner of the women’s boxing championship, Bianca!”
A blonde woman stepped forward with a tray holding the crown, and Queenie, taking a deep breath, collected herself. She had watched her brother present awards to champions countless times, so she approached with a practiced smile, lifting the Phoenix Crown with both hands and walking slowly toward Bianca.
“Women have held lofty ambitions since ancient times. Among the countless heroes in the world, who dares say women are inferior to men?” the host recited, his words flowing quickly. “The Dragon Might Boxing Center has hosted the Tiger Crown and Phoenix Crown Championship four times since its establishment. While the victor of the Tiger Crown changes each year, the Phoenix Crown has always belonged to the legendary Black Widow. But now, Black Widow steps down from her throne, and Bianca ascends it like a shining star. Let us give another round of applause to congratulate Miss Bianca on becoming the Phoenix Crown Champion for the year 2022!”
The audience erupted in thunderous applause as Queenie placed the Phoenix Crown on Bianca’s head. The pure gold crown gleamed under the lights, the nine diamonds sparkling brightly.
A trolley containing 500,000 in cash was rolled into the ring, and Bianca, standing under the spotlight, slowly raised her gloved hands, the image of a victorious goddess. The crowd’s applause grew louder.
Skadi and Hera clapped happily from the sidelines, while Nash stood quietly, his hands in his pockets, watching with a calm expression. He had seen scenes like this many times before. The Phoenix Crown Championship was nothing more than a commercial boxing match organized by the Dragon Might Boxing Center.
Bianca still had a long way to go before she could call herself a true champion. She would need to conquer the municipal, provincial, national, and world championships before reaching that level.
Bianca’s gaze shifted to Nash, silently hoping for a sign of approval. She knew she wouldn’t have won if it hadn’t been for his training.
Nash, noticing her look, offered a smile and clapped for her, signaling his support.
However, Queenie, who had been eyeing Nash with growing irritation, scowled as she noticed him. Her expression soured, the memory of their encounter the previous night fueling her annoyance.
“That bastard,” she muttered under her breath. “Who let you into my boxing center?”
Nash turned to her, unruffled, and replied, “I bought a ticket. Why can’t I be here?”
Queenie’s frown deepened. “This is the Watsons’ territory. You’re not welcome here!”
Hera and Skadi immediately approached, sensing the tension, but before they could intervene, Nash chuckled lightly. “I’ll leave, then.”
He had just earned nine billion from the Watsons and wasn’t interested in getting into a pointless argument with this spoiled princess. Without looking back, he turned and walked away, with Skadi and Hera following closely behind.
Queenie folded her arms across her chest, a smug smile curling on her lips. She turned to Bianca and said, “Bianca, now that you hold the Phoenix Crown, your popularity and value will skyrocket. We’ll invest a substantial amount in buying out a year’s worth of advertising for you. We’ll also arrange the best boxing coach to ensure you win the Golden Belt within three years.”
Kai had said all this to Black Widow before, and Queenie was confident in the Watsons’ power and resources.
But Bianca, without a second thought, responded calmly, “Thank you for your kind offer, Miss Queenie, but my coach is Nash.”
