Chapter 153
Helena’s voice quivered as she looked at the roses, her eyes sparkling with emotion. “I love it! I really, really love it!”
Behind Kai, Queenie sighed wistfully, her tone tinged with envy. “Helena, I’m so jealous that you found a boyfriend like my brother. I hope my future boyfriend will celebrate my birthday like this!”
Helena chuckled, her heart full of warmth. “You’re so beautiful, Queenie! You’ll definitely marry into the wealthiest family in Capitol!”
Queenie grinned mischievously. “I’ll hold onto you for that!”
Laughter filled the air as they moved toward the main entrance of the Chateau Hotel. Queenie’s sharp eyes immediately noticed Nash and Hera, still posing for photos amidst the roses. The smile that had lit up her face quickly faded, replaced by a look of irritation.
“Sigh, we’re so unlucky! Why do we keep running into them everywhere?”
Helena’s lips curled into a sneer. “I’ll go take a look… She had no reason to be here. If she came to the Chateau Hotel without an invitation, she’s definitely trying to show off.”
Queenie looked at Kai, her eyebrows raised in question. “Kai, are you not going to go over?”
Kai’s expression darkened. “I’ll bring them into the hotel first… If I were to see Nash now, I’d be burning with fury. Going over to him would just complicate things.”
He turned toward his bodyguards, issuing a few commands. “George, Janson, follow Helena and Queenie. Mr. Herman, Mr. Cain, Ms. Yaar, I’ll bring you guys into the hotel.”
George and Janson, known for their skills in protecting those close to Kai, were assigned to guard Helena and Queenie. With their experience, even Nash wouldn’t dare attack, not with such formidable bodyguards around.
Helena, pleased with the security, moved closer to her brother as they made their way toward the entrance. Kai’s calm demeanor betrayed nothing of the fury simmering just below the surface.
Meanwhile, Hubert, who had been preparing to enter the hotel, paused as Rooney grabbed his sleeve.
“Berty, look. Aren’t those two… Harrison and Lauren?”
Hubert glanced over and saw the couple strolling arm-in-arm down the road. A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. “Are they here to embarrass themselves?”
Rooney’s smile was sharp, almost predatory. “Perfect. I’m going to crush their faces into the ground today.”
On the far side of the road, Harrison and Lauren, seemingly unaware of the approaching confrontation, admired the beautiful rose arrangements. Harrison let out a long sigh. “What is Skadi up to? Why did she invite us?”
Lauren chuckled, the sound light but laced with uncertainty. “Maybe Skadi has a membership card for Chateau Hotel?”
Harrison’s eyes momentarily brightened, but the excitement quickly faded. “With the Zabel family’s power, I’m afraid they don’t qualify for a diamond card. Even if that girl organized a birthday celebration for Hera, we’d still be ridiculed by my brother’s family.”
Lauren gave him a reassuring smile. “If they want to laugh at us, let them. It’s not like we’ll lose a limb because of it!”
Back at the lawn, the photoshoot continued. Skadi, ever the playful spirit, teased Hera and Nash, encouraging them to pose in all sorts of ways. They made heart-shaped gestures with their arms, stood back to back, and even embraced affectionately while gazing into each other’s eyes.
As the session came to a close, Hera glanced through the pictures, her face lighting up. “Skadi, your pictures are beautiful…”
Skadi grinned. “That’s because you and Nash are on camera. You two could be models!”
Hera waved one of the photos in front of Nash, a playful sparkle in her eyes. “Let’s change our wallpaper to this one tomorrow.” The picture was of her and Nash standing together, looking up at the stars, their faces soft with contentment.
Nash chuckled, his eyes warm with affection. “I’ll do whatever you say as long as it makes you happy.”
Before either of them could speak more, a voice broke through the moment, smooth and dripping with feigned sweetness.
“Hey, is my beloved sister here to celebrate her birthday at Chateau Hotel?” Helena’s approach was confident, but there was something sharper in her eyes that didn’t go unnoticed by Hera.
As Helena drew closer, the tension between the two women felt almost palpable.
