Chapter 162
Laura’s tone remained warm and sincere, her words devoid of any hint of mockery. After all, it was her daughter’s special day, and she genuinely wanted everyone to enjoy themselves while celebrating Hera’s birthday.
Rooney, however, was not so easily swayed. She shot Laura a pointed glare and scoffed, “Stop being so pretentious. It’s just dinner. I’m sure Mr. Kai will have something even grander planned for when it’s my daughter’s turn!”
“Mom, stop it!” Helena could no longer bear the tension. She grabbed her mother’s hand, pulling her away, and hurried out of the room, too embarrassed to stay. Hubert, of course, followed closely behind.
Herman, shaking his head, muttered, “Let them be. We should go ahead and celebrate Hera’s birthday!”
Sienna led the group to the Ultimate Royalty Room, the most exclusive area of the Chateau Hotel. The room was a sight to behold: Over thirty luxurious leather armchairs surrounded a massive circular table, and a grand chandelier hung from the ceiling, its gentle light illuminating every corner. A grand piano stood in one corner, its polished surface gleaming, while priceless artwork adorned the walls. The porcelain vases displayed throughout the room were antiques, adding to the room’s opulence.
Herman and Cain, completely distracted by the antiques upon entering, couldn’t help but marvel at the collection. Olivia, ever the gracious hostess, played the role of tour guide, introducing the men to each piece with enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Hera pulled Nash aside into a quieter corner of the room. Her face was flushed, and her hands rested on her hips as she puffed her cheeks in frustration. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” she demanded, her voice a mix of annoyance and disbelief.
Nash, ever calm and collected, grinned. “I wanted to surprise you!”
“Surprise? More like shock!” Hera shot back. “Do you know how nervous I was just now?” Her glare at Nash only made her appear even more adorable, her anger mixing with the cuteness of her expression.
She had just met Sienna Lowe, an A-list celebrity, and learned about the exclusive platinum membership card—all things she never imagined experiencing in her wildest dreams, yet here she was.
Nash sighed and shrugged. “I wasn’t expecting Theo to give me his platinum membership card either.”
Hera raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. “So, what’s the deal between you and Theo?”
Nash paused, unsure how to explain. “We’re… just friends.” He didn’t know how to define his relationship with Theo either, but one thing was certain: Theo had been incredibly supportive of him.
Before they could continue their conversation, a commotion erupted outside the room, drawing their attention. An elderly man, likely in his seventies, stood at the entrance with a group of younger men and women behind him.
One of the voices from the group called out in shock, “Oh my goodness, is this really Hera’s birthday celebration?”
Another voice, filled with awe, chimed in, “Oh… my, is that Sienna Lowe?”
“Holy crap, what did I do to deserve seeing Sienna in a maid costume with my own eyes?” someone else exclaimed, laughter following their words.
The group was made up of several of Hera’s college classmates and even some of her former lecturers. The oldest man in the group was none other than the chancellor of Jonford University.
A smile spread across Hera’s face as she spotted the familiar faces. She immediately grabbed Nash’s hand and pulled him along with her. “Mr. Yonder, Mr. Jen, Mr. Wilcox! And all my dear friends! Good evening!” she called out as she approached them, her voice warm and inviting.
Nash, ever polite, nodded and greeted everyone present with a smile.
One of Hera’s girlfriends, her voice teasing, couldn’t help but comment, “Your boyfriend is so good-looking, Hera. Does he want another girlfriend?” The lighthearted joke caused a ripple of laughter among the group, and Hera’s face flushed, both flattered and embarrassed by the attention.
