Chapter 125
“Wow, is that Ms. Lewis’ boyfriend? So tall and handsome! They’re truly a match made in heaven!”

“Tsk… What’s the use of being handsome? Can one survive on good looks alone? I think only sons from top-tier families are worthy of our Ms. Lewis!”

“All of you don’t even know about Mr. Calcraft’s background. Look at his aura. It’s not something ordinary men can have. Maybe he’s the son of some big family who simply came out to gain life experience?”

“Alright now, enough. Be safe on the road!”

Hera rolled her eyes at the gossiping employees and quickly made her way toward Nash, who was waiting by the car.
At the Lewis family estate, a large table laden with food awaited. Maria had gone all out with the preparations.
Meanwhile, Herman and Cain were deep into a chess game, the tension in the air palpable. Cain had already lost three rounds.
Herman, ever observant, broke the silence. “Cain, you seem to have been restless these past few days. Is it because of that shooting incident?”
Cain hesitated before answering, his voice strained. “Huh? Uh… yeah… yes.”
Ever since the masked man had saved him that night, Cain had been on edge. He feared that the person who had ordered him to murder Herman would eventually silence him permanently. Despite the Lewis family estate’s increased security, he couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that haunted him, disrupting his sleep and appetite.
On the sofa, Lauren was quietly knitting a sweater, her attention divided between the task at hand and the conversation unfolding around her.
“I think Hera also encountered an assassination attempt before,” Lauren said, her voice calm but sharp. “These two incidents must have been orchestrated by the same person behind the scenes.”
Rooney, sitting on the other sofa and holding a toy poodle, immediately bristled at Lauren’s words. “Lauren, are you suggesting that our family hired people to harm Cain and Hera?”
Lauren’s expression remained impassive. “I didn’t name names. Why are you so anxious?”
Rooney, clearly agitated, snapped back, “With your hinting, it’s not different than naming names! First, you said we hired assassins to kill Hera, and now you’re implying that the same person is behind both cases. Isn’t this a blatant attack on our family?”
A cold glint flashed in Lauren’s eyes as she countered, “Are you upset because I hit the nail on the head?”
“Why you…” Rooney fumed, ready to lash out.
“Enough!” Herman slammed his hand down on the chessboard, sending the pieces scattering. His gaze was sharp as he glared at them. “You two start arguing the moment you see each other. Do you even have any respect for me?”
The room fell into a tense silence, and Lauren, though pleased by the old man’s words, still felt the undercurrent of unresolved issues in the air. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction. Despite losing his memory, Herman no longer showed favoritism toward Hubert’s family as he had in the past.
Rooney, on the other hand, was fuming, her grip tightening around her poodle, almost pulling out the dog’s fur in her frustration. Only when the little poodle let out a yelp did she release her grip.
As the tension simmered, Helena descended the stairs, phone pressed to her ear as she exchanged sweet words with Kai.
Nash and Hera entered the villa together, and the atmosphere shifted slightly.
“Dad, Mom, Grandpa, Uncle, good evening!” Hera greeted sweetly, her voice warm with familiarity.
“Uncle, Aunt, Ol’ Mr. Lewises, good evening!” Nash followed, his tone respectful and cordial.
Harrison and Lauren greeted them with smiles, their eyes soft with affection. Herman and Cain nodded, acknowledging the greetings with a semblance of politeness.
Hera’s family had long been divided in their loyalties, and although Herman had regained some semblance of his old self, there were still tensions between the two families that were not easily forgotten.
At the dinner table, Hera beamed as she served Nash his food, her gaze full of warmth and tenderness.
Across the table, Helena’s eyes narrowed as she watched them, her jealousy simmering just beneath the surface. Although Kai, her boyfriend, was a hundred times better than Nash, he was hardly ever present. With Kai, she often felt as though she wasn’t even in a relationship.
“Harri, how far has the collaboration with Drake Group progressed?” Herman’s voice broke the silence, and his tone softened considerably when the subject turned to business.
Harrison responded promptly, “Drake Group’s 1.5 billion dollar deposit arrived today. The recruitment plans for the parent company and branches have been approved. We expect to start mass hiring tomorrow. In addition, we’ve decided to add at least 20 production lines to deliver the first batch of chips to Drake Group within two months!”
The conversation shifted, and the weight of business seemed to momentarily ease the tension that had hung in the air all evening. However, unspoken undercurrents lingered, as old rivalries and new alliances began to take shape within the walls of the Lewis family estate.
