Chapter 155
Rooney nodded in agreement, her voice laced with scorn. “You’re right, they’re shameless enough anyway!”
But Skadi, clearly losing her patience, stepped forward with fire in her eyes. “You better keep your mouth shut, fatty!”
The insult hit like a thunderclap. “F… fatty?” Rooney blinked, stunned. “You… are you talking to me?”
Skadi’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t you have any idea who I’m talking to?”
Rooney, completely bewildered, glanced around, half-expecting to see someone overweight in the crowd. But all she saw were the usual faces. It was only then that the realization hit her — Skadi had just called her a “fatty.”
Outraged, Rooney snapped, her voice rising to a scream. “You b*tch! I dare you to say it again!”
Her anger was palpable, her hands shaking with fury. “Stupid btch! Fcking fatty! You eat more than a pig, don’t you?”
Skadi stood her ground, hands on her hips, not backing down an inch. Her words were sharp and her spit flew with every syllable, further fueling Rooney’s rage.
Hera, sensing the escalating tension, grabbed Skadi’s wrist and whispered, “Skade, that’s enough…”
Though Hera didn’t feel the slightest pity for Rooney, she worried about the consequences this might bring, especially considering Kai’s involvement.
Rooney, now completely enraged, stormed forward, intent on slapping Skadi. Bianca quickly moved to intercept, but Rooney’s cold glare froze her in place.
With lightning speed, Rooney raised her hand, aiming for Skadi. But Skadi was ready. With a swift motion, she dodged the attack and delivered a slap of her own to Rooney, the sound ringing out like a gunshot.
Helena, caught off guard by the speed of the retaliation, rushed forward but was too slow. Before she could even react, she heard the sharp slap echoing in the air.
“Ouch…” Rooney yelped, clutching her face. She screamed, “Help! She hit me! The granddaughter of Zakariah Sinclair Zabel just hit me!”
Helena’s face turned red with fury as she stormed forward, glaring at Skadi. “Kneel and apologize to my mother!”
Skadi, arms crossed and a defiant grin on her face, replied, “Do you really think I’d do that?”
Helena’s anger flared, and she raised her hand to strike. But before she could land a blow, Nash moved swiftly, grabbing her wrist with a powerful grip.
The crack of her wrist echoed through the space, and Helena gasped in pain.
“Let her go, Master Calcraft,” Janson said quickly, rushing over with George by his side. They didn’t want to get involved in the Lewis family’s drama, but with Helena getting physically attacked, they couldn’t just stand by.
Hera gently shook Nash’s hand. “Nash, let it go. Let’s just go back.”
Nash, still angry but in control, released Helena’s wrist, wiping his hand on his shirt in disgust. Helena stumbled back, rubbing her wrist with watery eyes, the humiliation of the moment clear on her face.
Rooney, still reeling from the slap, collapsed to the ground, wailing. “Helena, my life sucks…”
Helena stood there helplessly, torn between avenging her mother and knowing that Nash was untouchable. She was too angry to process everything fully.
Just then, Lauren and Harrison appeared from the crowd. Lauren immediately zeroed in on the scene, her lips curling into a smile. “Oh! I was wondering which lunatic was causing a scene! Turns out it was my sister-in-law!”
Rooney, too flustered to respond immediately, quickly covered her face, trying to mask the slap mark. “Don’t be smug, Lauren!”
Lauren’s grin only widened as she stood tall, looking down at Rooney with disdain. “I would never be as smug as you! You’ve probably forgotten your own family name after relying so much on the Watson name, right?”
Hubert, struggling with the weight of the situation, finally managed to drag Rooney off the ground. “I didn’t expect you to have the audacity to come here. Just go celebrate my daughter’s birthday!” she spat, seething with frustration.
With that, Rooney stormed off, dragging Helena behind her, leaving behind an air of tension that still lingered.
Lauren, however, was far from done. Unlike her usual calm demeanor, she spat on the ground in disgust and walked toward Skadi. “Skadi, did you make a reservation here?”
Skadi shook her head, her smile still lingering. “I didn’t, but Nash did…”
The game had changed, and now the stakes were higher than ever.
