Chapter 420
After Lilah’s explanation, the board of directors approached Claude with relieved expressions.
“We’re glad this was just a misunderstanding, Claude. Please disregard our earlier concerns.”
Claude smiled calmly. “Why would I mind? I understand your worries—it’s natural.”
Everyone relaxed, unaware that Tyler was the one who had stirred the chaos during the meeting—sending a clear warning to Claude.
Once the meeting ended, Claude and Lilah exited the room. Claude noticed Tyler still there, engaged in conversation with Jordan.
Jordan spotted Claude and called out, “Claude, why didn’t you handle Tyler yourself?”
Walking over, Claude answered with a smile, “I was caught up in a meeting and didn’t want to interrupt.”
Tyler politely interjected, “I didn’t realize he was busy. No problem—I’ll catch him next time.” He nodded in farewell and left Claude and Jordan alone.
Claude’s eyes followed Tyler’s retreating figure with a cold stare.
Jordan leaned closer and warned, “Don’t interfere with the restructuring plans.”
Claude only nodded in response, his voice flat, “Mm-hmm.”
Back in his office, Claude glanced at a framed photo of Morgan. He studied her smiling face for a moment before turning the frame face down, resolute never to see it again.
Meanwhile, Olivia sat quietly, staring at the love locket she had received. She didn’t want to keep it and planned to ask Sophie to return it to Claude.
Just as she was about to make the call, her phone rang—it was Naomi. Without hesitation, Olivia hung up, unwilling to have any contact with her.
Naomi didn’t call again but sent a few texts instead:
“Can you forgive me, Olivia?”
“Keep your distance from Claude, Olivia. Our families have a complicated relationship. If you really like him, I’ll help you after the baby is born and your ties with the Harrises end.”
Olivia deleted the messages without replying.
At that moment, Tyler walked in. Olivia, seated on the couch, looked up to find him standing at a distance.
The room felt heavy with silence, as if an invisible wall separated them—neither daring to cross it.
Tyler broke the quiet, acting as if everything was normal. “I suppose you stayed in your room all day?”
