Chapter 441
Olivia wrapped her arms tightly around herself.
Tyler, realizing he had lost control, quickly regained his composure. “Sorry. I must have scared you,” he murmured softly, releasing her gently.
With effort, she slid off his lap and sat quietly beside him, the silence between them stretching long and heavy.
Tyler massaged his forehead, muttering under his breath, “Well, well, well. Good thing you reminded me I drank. I almost fell for the trap she set for me.”
Olivia, still holding herself protectively, finally rested a hand quietly on her baby bump.
Tyler placed his hands on his knees, the tension lingering.
Time seemed to freeze. Olivia kept her gaze lowered, her lips pale, unresponsive to his presence.
Taking a deep breath, Tyler softened his tone. “Look, I’m sorry about all this. Please ask the maid to put some ointment on those mosquito bites.”
Trying to sound calm, Olivia replied, “I will.”
The haze of alcohol had faded. The brief warmth they’d shared disappeared, leaving them distant once again.
Ana’s plan had worked perfectly. She was well aware of her son’s avoidance of his pregnant wife and was displeased.
She believed that a couple should spend more time together—and even in her condition, Olivia could challenge her son’s stubbornness.
Ana smiled to herself, satisfied with her scheme.
“What are you smiling about?” Maisy asked, noticing her mother’s good mood.
“Nothing. Just waiting for them to come home.”
Maisy raised an eyebrow. “Tyler went out with Olivia?”
“Yes.”
Maisy laughed softly. “Good! No one can resist someone as adorable as Olivia.”
It was midnight. Ana sipped her tea and suggested, “You should go to bed.”
Though Maisy had taken a long nap earlier and wasn’t very tired, she agreed. “Alright then!”
The maid escorted the chuckling Maisy from the living room.
After the door closed behind her, Ana heard the distant hum of a car and looked out the window.
Inside the car, neither Olivia nor Tyler spoke until Tyler finally broke the silence. “You should get off. I’m going to Sandalwood Palace tonight.”
It was clear he was trying to control his impulses.
Olivia listened quietly, then opened the door.
