Chapter 461
Noticing they were still locked in a gaze, Tyler addressed Claude with a hint of irony,
“Thanks for that, Claude. You’re quite observant.”
He then turned to Linda.
“Bring her to the car.”
“Okay, sir,” she replied promptly.
Meanwhile, Olivia felt a strange flutter within her. It was always Claude who noticed when she dropped her mother’s necklace… this was the second time.
She clutched the necklace tighter, pressing it protectively against her chest.
Mindful of those around her, she dared not linger.
When Linda called her again, Olivia finally moved to leave.
Claude watched her retreating figure quietly.
Tyler glanced at Claude and said,
“It’s just a necklace. Since she hasn’t lost it, you should let it go.”
Claude shook his head.
“It’s not just a necklace. It’s something her mother left behind.”
Tyler briefly frowned, clearly unaware of its true significance.
Indeed, he had never known. Olivia had never mentioned it before—only once, when she lost it and asked if he’d seen it. She had seemed anxious then.
Claude chuckled softly.
“I understand you’re busy, Tyler, and details can be missed. It’s alright—you know now.”
Tyler’s tone was calm but tinged with regret.
“I can’t believe you know my wife better than I do. I’ve neglected my duty. I should be more attentive, especially since it’s an heirloom from her mother.”
In the car, Olivia clutched the necklace while Linda watched quietly.
They remained parked outside the church. Olivia’s grip on the necklace didn’t loosen.
After some time, Tyler finally emerged and got into the car. Olivia stayed silent.
He broke the silence with a steady voice,
“Do you always wear your mother’s necklace?”
She hadn’t expected the question but answered softly,
“Yes.”
He looked ahead, voice calm but sincere.
“I can’t believe I wasn’t aware of this… and that Claude had to inform me. Seems like you two have had many conversations.”
Linda glanced between them, sensing the undercurrents.
Olivia held the necklace tighter.
“It’s nothing significant. The necklace isn’t valuable. I didn’t want to bother you or waste your time.”
Tyler chuckled softly, saying nothing more.
Just then, the priest emerged with a gentle smile, presenting them the blessed amulet.
“It’s prepared, Mr. and Mrs. Harris.”
Tyler accepted it with gratitude.
The priest then produced a sandalwood box.
“Mr. Pearce asked me to give this bracelet to Mrs. Harris. It’s for her safety.”
Tyler reached for the box, but his hand froze, his fingers clenching into a tight fist at the priest’s words.
