Chapter 494

The psychiatrist completed his initial examination and announced his findings.

“She appears to have suffered a severe psychological shock, resulting in sudden amnesia and mutism.”

“What did you say?!” Tyler snapped, his voice sharp, his brow tightly furrowed.

Everyone turned to look at Olivia, who was curled up in the corner of the hospital bed, her body trembling as she withdrew further into herself.

“We’ll need further psychological evaluations to confirm the diagnosis,” the psychiatrist continued, “but it’s clear she experienced a trauma of considerable intensity.”

A heavy silence followed.

Suddenly, Alisa burst into tears. “How did this happen?! She was fine just this morning!”

Camilla’s eyes widened in disbelief. None of it made sense.

Tyler’s voice turned hoarse. “Will she recover?”

The question hung in the air.

The doctor sighed. “We can’t say if it’s permanent or temporary. All we can recommend is immediate psychiatric treatment.”

Tyler clenched his fists, his knuckles audibly cracking. He forced a slow breath through his lungs, doing everything he could to keep his emotions in check.

“…Understood,” he finally said.

Shortly afterward, heads of the OB-GYN, psychiatric, and psychological departments gathered in Olivia’s room for a quick discussion. After several hushed exchanges, they quietly left, their faces serious.

Inside, a heavy silence lingered.

Everyone was still processing what had just been said. The only sounds were the tense, uneven breaths of those in the room.

Camilla looked over at Olivia, her heart heavy. She couldn’t understand how things had gotten so out of control. Olivia had always been quiet, maybe a little distant—but this?

“W-What are we going to…” Camilla began, but couldn’t finish her sentence. The words stuck in her throat.

No one had expected this. Olivia, who had always been so gentle, so quiet—was now unreachable.

Tyler slowly relaxed his fists, his expression hardening with resolve. “We proceed with further psychological evaluations.”

“R-Right. I’ll get all the paperwork ready,” Camilla said quickly and rushed out of the room.

Alisa stayed behind but didn’t dare approach Olivia. She simply wept quietly from a distance.

Word of Olivia’s condition quickly reached the Harris residence.

Maisy had been waiting anxiously for an update since the hospital visit. When she saw the butler and Alisa return, she immediately set her teacup down.

“How is she? What did the doctor say?” she asked.

Ana sat beside her, sipping tea calmly. Unlike Maisy, she didn’t seem the least bit concerned.

To her, this was probably just stress—nothing serious. Olivia just needed rest and perhaps a little pressure to remind her who she should and shouldn’t anger.

But when the butler reached the living room, he remained silent.

Maisy’s eyes narrowed. “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

At last, he spoke. “Ms. Olivia has suddenly lost her memory. She won’t speak and won’t let anyone near her. The doctors believe she’s suffered severe psychological trauma. Their preliminary diagnosis is amnesia and mutism.”

Ana jumped to her feet. “What the hell?!”

Maisy swayed, nearly fainting. A maid rushed to steady her.

Pointing a trembling finger at the butler, Maisy demanded, “What did you say happened to Olivia?!”

“Mr. Tyler has ordered further psychiatric assessments,” the butler replied quietly.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, doctors tried to proceed with Olivia’s treatment—but her fear and resistance made it nearly impossible. No one dared push her too far, afraid any misstep might trigger a reaction that could affect both her and the baby.

Eventually, the doctors suggested Tyler contact Olivia’s family. Someone close to her might be able to reach her, to ground her.

Realizing the urgency, Tyler immediately instructed Camilla to notify the Jones family.

Hillary was still at the hospital with Naomi, so Camilla headed to their home. She found only Darren there.

As soon as he saw her step out of the car, Darren’s instincts flared. He rushed over, concerned. “Mr. Jones!” Camilla called.

He hurried toward her. “Is Naomi in trouble?”

Camilla grabbed his hand urgently. “No—it’s Ms. Olivia! You need to come with me right now!”

“Olivia?” Darren’s heart sank. “Is it the baby? What’s happened?”

Camilla didn’t answer. She tugged on his wrist. “Just come with me, sir. Please.”
