Chapter 489
Tyler’s eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flashing within them.
The room fell silent—no whispers, no breaths, only the tension hanging thick in the air.
After a few moments of staring directly into Claude’s eyes, Tyler slowly withdrew his hand from the door handle and smiled coldly. “What’s this?”
The butler and maid exchanged uncertain glances. They hadn’t seen Claude enter and were puzzled.
Claude ignored their looks and stood firm, still holding Olivia. “She fainted.”
Tyler’s gaze sharpened, his expression colder than before. “What are you doing here?”
Claude smirked. “How well do you think you’ve been taking care of her? She had to come to the hospital and immediately fainted. Who gave you the right to question me?”
The butler glanced nervously at Olivia in Claude’s arms, suspicion creeping in. Even the maid sensed something was wrong.
Tyler scoffed dismissively. “That’s my family’s business.”
He raised his arms casually. “Give her to me.”
Claude’s voice turned sharper. “I thought you’d treat her better since she’s here to save Naomi. But I guess I overestimated your kindness. You torture her at home. Aren’t you afraid of divine retribution?”
Tyler’s demeanor remained indifferent. “That’s between us and God. She’s part of my family now—even if we do treat her harshly. Are you seriously going to carry her out of this hospital like that?”
Claude’s tone grew firm. “I have no right to carry her out, but Tyler Harris, I’m warning you—you should be a better person.”
Tyler sneered. “You should take your own advice.”
For a tense moment, no one spoke.
Then Claude stepped forward and gently placed Olivia into Tyler’s arms.
“I won’t let you treat her this way.”
Tyler’s eyes flashed dangerously. “I’m waiting for the day you have the authority to order my family around.”
They locked eyes for a few more seconds before Tyler turned and walked away, Olivia still cradled in his arms.
Claude watched his retreating figure silently.
The butler and maid finally broke the silence and hurried after them.
Once inside the car, the butler closed the door, and Tyler glanced at him. “Who arranged to send her to the hospital?”
Tyler knew something was off.
Still recovering from what had just happened, the butler tried to stay calm. “Ms. Olivia wasn’t feeling well. Ms. Maisy was in her room when Mr. Claude visited. He talked to her about Olivia’s insomnia and recommended the doctor.”
“So you didn’t know Claude was there?”
“Of course not. After bringing Ms. Olivia here, we stayed outside the door and didn’t see him enter.”
Tyler fixed him with a cold stare. “I’m sure you understand what will happen if what happened today ever gets out.”
