Chapter 486
Alisa nodded. “Okay, I will.”
Pearl left, and Alisa quietly entered Olivia’s room.
She had been doing everything she could to care for Olivia—trying different methods to help her sleep—but nothing seemed to work. Even a week after returning from the church, Olivia still barely slept.
She looked utterly exhausted, eating little and rarely leaving her room. Fear seemed to confine her within those four walls.
Maisy felt helpless. Unsure of what else to do, she called the doctor to come again.
When the doctor arrived, he examined Olivia carefully. Aside from her sleep issues, Olivia appeared physically healthy. With a grave tone, he suggested that Olivia be referred to a psychiatrist.
Hearing the word “psychiatrist” made Maisy’s anxiety deepen. She glanced toward Olivia, who lay motionless, silent since their arrival.
Maisy moved closer and gently embraced her. “What’s happening to you, Olivia? Please, tell me.”
But Olivia sat stiffly, like a lifeless statue, her gaze empty and unfocused.
Not wanting to waste time, Maisy ordered firmly, “Get a psychiatrist here immediately.”
At that moment, the butler approached. “Ma’am, Mr. Claude is here.”
Maisy frowned, not hearing him clearly.
He repeated, “Mr. Claude is here to see you.”
Her face darkened.
Upon hearing Claude’s name, Olivia stirred slightly.
Maisy sighed heavily. “Let him in.”
“Okay.”
Five minutes later, Claude ascended the stairs and entered Olivia’s room.
Maisy remained seated beside Olivia’s bed. When Claude appeared, she asked, “What are you doing here?”
Claude’s eyes immediately locked onto Olivia. Seeing her in such a fragile state wiped the smile off his face.
Everyone present noticed his sudden change and found it strange.
Clearing her throat, Maisy repeated, “What are you doing here, Claude?”
Recent news channels had dredged up old scandals involving him and Morgan. Maisy was upset about the reports but still allowed him in—for the sake of the families’ relationship.
However, she hadn’t expected him to fixate on Olivia the moment he arrived.
Claude snapped out of his trance at Maisy’s voice. After a pause, he finally looked at her and said softly, “I brought some cake over for you.”
“Thank you for your kindness.”
Claude continued, “Morgan loved you so much. I hope you have a long and happy life.”
Maisy frowned even more. “She’s no longer with us. It’s time you let her go.”
