Chapter 493

Something was clearly wrong. Olivia hadn’t looked like this when she first woke up.

Alisa’s voice trembled with panic. “S-Sir, what’s happening?”

Tyler didn’t release Olivia’s arms. His eyes were locked on her face, troubled. “Get the doctor. Now.”

Without hesitation, Alisa rushed out of the room.

Five minutes later, the doctor arrived and began his examination. But the moment he tried to approach Olivia, she recoiled violently, shrinking back like a frightened animal. Her reactions were far beyond normal.

Tyler narrowed his eyes, tension rising in his jaw.

The doctor could tell something was seriously off—but he couldn’t pinpoint what.

Olivia whimpered like a kitten, the soft sound pitiful. Yet she said nothing. Not a single word.

Tyler’s first instinct was to pull her into his arms, to try and calm her by force. But the doctor stopped him. “No—don’t touch her. I need to call my colleagues from the psychiatric department. Let her be for now, Mr. Tyler.”

Reluctantly, Tyler stepped back.

Olivia immediately scrambled to the far corner of the hospital bed, curling up and hugging herself as if trying to build a barrier against the world.

At that moment, Naomi had just returned to her ward—only to find her mother waiting for her.

These days, Naomi had kept Camilla close. The woman seemed to be hiding something, and Naomi hoped that proximity would give her an opportunity to uncover it. Unfortunately, Camilla was as tight-lipped as ever.

But now? With Olivia suddenly being hospitalized for insomnia, Naomi’s suspicions only grew.

Noticing her daughter lost in thought, Hillary asked, “What’s wrong? You’ve been zoning out ever since I got here.”

“Mom… did you know Olivia’s in the hospital?” Naomi asked quietly.

“What?!” Hillary’s voice shot up. “Why? What happened? Is it something serious? It’s not about the baby, is it?”

Of course she was worried. Olivia was five months along—any complications at this stage would be a nightmare.

“I heard it’s just insomnia… but a really severe case. She’s here right now.”

Hillary let out a breath. “Oh, just sleep problems? That’s common during pregnancy, sweetheart. Why would she need to be hospitalized? Maybe I should go visit her.”

Naomi considered it. Since Olivia wouldn’t see her, maybe Hillary could get a look at her condition instead.

As Hillary passed Naomi a container of food, she said, “Tyler has already transferred all of Olivia’s medical records here. Naomi, you should start preparing yourself.”

She smiled reassuringly. “Tyler loves you. He’s not going to abandon the plan—not after everything we’ve done.”

Naomi returned the smile, soft and full of hope. “I know, Mom. Once I recover completely… everything will go back to the way it should be.”

Hillary smiled as well, basking in the illusion of victory—as though hope was just around the corner.

But neither of them realized just how far they were from the truth.
