Chapter 451
Olivia was about to step into the car when her phone rang. Seeing it was Ana, she answered promptly. “Hi, Mom.”
“Did you deliver it to him?” Ana’s voice was sharp.
“Yes,” Olivia replied after a brief pause.
Ana’s suspicion grew at the silence. “Don’t make me call the Harris Group to verify.”
“He’s not at his office, Mom. I called him. He told me to leave it at the front desk.”
“And now you’re leaving?” Ana’s tone carried a warning.
Olivia glanced down. “Yes.”
“You’re not leaving. The purpose of afternoon tea is to personally hand it to him!”
After a tense pause, Ana’s voice hardened. “Do you understand me?!”
Olivia snapped out of her daze. “R-Right! I understand, Mom.”
“Good. Goodbye.”
The call ended. The driver glanced at Olivia with a tentative question, “Should we head back?”
“No. We’ll wait here.”
The driver looked confused.
Olivia said nothing, pursing her lips, her face pale and thoughtful.
Meanwhile, Tyler returned to Naomi’s hospital room. She looked up at him immediately. “Was that work?”
“Yeah,” Tyler said absently, placing his phone on the coffee table and picking up his book again.
Naomi watched him for a moment before timidly suggesting, “Um, Tyler? If work needs your attention, you should go. I’m fine on my own. You’ve been keeping me company for days.”
Tyler glanced up. “It was just a call. Nothing major.”
He returned to reading, while Naomi fretted quietly, hoping she wasn’t holding him back. Still, she trusted he would tell her if it was important. Nodding, she said, “Okay, then.”
Silence settled in the room.
A nurse admired Naomi’s knitting. “Ms. Naomi, your knitting is exquisite!”
“Thank you,” Naomi smiled faintly. “I’m making it for Olivia and my parents. I don’t have much else to do.”
The nurse offered to help, and soon Naomi’s work was nearly finished.
Tyler’s phone rang again. Both he and Naomi glanced at the screen.
It was Ana.
He stared at the screen for a long moment.
