Chapter 426
Tyler studied her for a long moment. “You need some rest.”
Olivia looked up, her voice soft but curious, “Have you been with Naomi?”
His expression darkened slightly. “I went to your house with Naomi and then took her back to the hospital.”
Olivia paused, letting his words settle. “It’s good you could spend time with Naomi. She probably felt better.”
She didn’t say more, fully aware that Tyler’s visits to Naomi were expected. Still, a quiet pang of jealousy and longing crept in as she thought about her own empty home and how long she’d been away.
Tyler lingered a moment longer, studying her face before turning and walking away.
Olivia remained standing there, her expression unreadable.
The next morning, Olivia’s phone rang. It was Hillary.
“Tyler brought Naomi home yesterday. Why didn’t you come?” Hillary asked, her tone teasing but curious.
Olivia blinked in surprise. “He didn’t tell me he was going there,” she replied honestly.
There was a brief pause, then Hillary chuckled. “No worries. I’ll send someone to pick you up and make you something to eat.”
Olivia simply responded, “Okay,” a word she’d come to say often lately.
“Well then, I’ll let you rest,” Hillary said with a smirk before ending the call.
“Okay, Aunt Hillary,” Olivia murmured quietly.
After hanging up, Olivia’s face turned serious. She knew exactly what Hillary was doing. A wave of unease washed over her as she pressed her lips together.
Her phone buzzed with a message from Claude:
[Are you up? The weather is nice today. Go see the flowers outside.]
Olivia glanced toward the balcony. After a moment’s hesitation, she walked over and looked down.
The garden stretched out like a sea of gold, vibrant colors glowing under the bright sunlight, making the morning feel even more alive. She stood there for a long time, quietly lost in the view.
That same morning, Tyler stepped out of the study, where Alisa was tidying up and preparing breakfast.
“Mr. Tyler,” she greeted politely.
He looked up. “Has Olivia woken up yet?”
“I don’t think so, sir,” Alisa replied softly.
