Chapter 444

Olivia lay awake for a long time before she carefully lifted a small corner of the blanket. Slowly, she pulled it closer, wrapping it gently around her stomach. The room wasn’t cold—the heater hummed softly—but the warmth of the blanket brought her some comfort.

Eventually, she drifted off to sleep.

Tyler, lying on his side, watched her quietly. She looked like a small, calm cat curled up on the bed, vulnerable yet peaceful. After a moment, he pulled most of his blanket over her. Olivia’s hands instinctively clutched the fabric tightly to her chest.

Just as Tyler reached to turn off the lamp, he noticed Olivia inching closer to him, as if seeking warmth. He paused, then finally switched off the light.

What unfolded in the darkness remained unspoken and unseen.

Morning came, and Olivia woke still holding the blanket close. She shifted slightly in bed, her eyes landing on Tyler, who was selecting clothes from the closet.

Surprise washed over her as memories from the night before rushed back. She sat up straighter, heart pounding softly.

Tyler, unaware she was awake at first, chose a necktie and then turned around, catching sight of her. He faced the mirror and quietly began tying his tie. Though he could see Olivia’s reflection, he said nothing, focusing on his task.

Seeing him there felt unreal to Olivia. She remembered clearly that nothing had happened between them—not even a hug—and a wave of relief washed over her.

Quietly, she slipped out of bed and greeted him, “Good morning.”

Tyler glanced her way. “Morning.”

With him present, Olivia felt unsure how to act.

After a long, awkward silence, Tyler finished adjusting his tie and headed toward the door, passing right by her. “Just go back to sleep. I’m off.”

And with that, he left the room. Olivia didn’t follow.

Tyler resumed his usual routine. He joined the same group from the previous day for a meal, discussing the details of the upcoming move.

Later, he arrived at a hotel where the others were already gathered in the lounge.

The group approached him eagerly. Their leader said warmly, “So glad to see you, Mr. Harris! We’re greatly honored to be under your care.”

Tyler smiled faintly. “How was your stay?”

Their faces lit up with satisfaction. “It was very, very comfortable! We truly enjoyed our time here.”
