Chapter 406

The moment Olivia opened her eyes, she hesitated, still half-lost in sleep. Then, as recognition dawned, she whispered, “Tyler.”

A thought struck her, pulling her fully awake. She sat up, bracing herself on her arms as she pushed against the mattress.

Tyler had entered the bedroom in the quiet hours of the night, unannounced but not unwelcome. Olivia didn’t question his presence—she simply accepted it, her expression calm as her eyes met his across the dim room.

Neither spoke for a while. Their silhouettes stretched across the floor, merging briefly in the glow of the hallway light before the stillness returned.

Finally, Tyler broke the silence.

“How was your doctor’s appointment?”

Olivia didn’t blink. “Everything seems to be fine.”

His tone was steady, almost clinical. “If anything ever feels wrong… you need to let me know right away.”

There was no emotion behind the words, only concern directed at one thing—the baby.

“I will,” she replied softly.

The space between them wasn’t just physical. Tyler stood a step farther away than usual, his posture guarded. The quiet tension hung in the air, but Olivia showed no visible reaction. If she felt anything about seeing him earlier with Naomi, she didn’t reveal it.

She didn’t ask about the party, and he didn’t ask about Claude.

Tyler remained silent.

Olivia waited. A part of her expected him to bring it up—the hallway encounter, the whispers, the stares. But he said nothing. Instead, his shadow slowly shifted away from hers, retreating as he turned toward the door.

Olivia’s gaze dropped to the floor, watching the outline of his steps fade.

When she finally looked up again, he was gone. The door had already clicked shut behind him.
