Chapter 457
Olivia avoided Linda’s gaze as she slid into the car, her face tightening with tension.
Adam glanced at Linda, uncertain of what had just occurred.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Olivia instructed quietly, “Drive slowly.”
Adam nodded in response. “I will.”
Without another word, he climbed into the driver’s seat and started the car.
Linda watched silently as the vehicle pulled away from the Harris Group building.
At home, Ana looked toward the door as the car pulled up.
When Olivia stepped into the living room, Ana greeted her calmly, “You’re home. Where’s the food container?”
“I left it at the office,” Olivia answered, halting in her tracks.
Ana accepted her explanation without suspicion or criticism.
“You must be tired after being out all afternoon. Go rest,” Ana suggested kindly.
Without looking back, Olivia headed upstairs, prompting a satisfied smile from Ana.
Meanwhile, Naomi called Tyler, anxious to understand the tension in his voice after Ana’s call.
“Tyler, what’s going on? Is everything alright?” she asked as he answered.
Leaning against his desk, Tyler’s expression was tight, his eyes downcast. He rubbed his temples before replying, “Just a minor issue.”
Noticing silence in the background, Naomi probed, “Are you still at the office?”
Tyler sighed, loosening his tie as if trying to erase the faint scent of Olivia’s perfume lingering on him.
“Yeah,” he confirmed softly.
Unaware of the full situation, Naomi stayed optimistic. “Work-related, I assume?”
Tyler simply nodded, unable to reveal Ana’s interference. “Yeah.”
A brief pause followed. Naomi began to doubt herself—maybe she was overthinking. Ana wouldn’t stoop to deceit.
Trying to ease the mood, she suggested, “Take a few days off. I’ll keep busy and stay out of your way.”
His response was curt, eyes fixed on the discarded tie in his hands.
“In that case, I’ll let you get back to it,” she said gently before ending the call.
After hanging up, Naomi felt a pang of sadness. She had hoped for more connection with Tyler, but it seemed the incident had driven a wedge between them. She resolved to work harder at repairing their relationship, determined to close the distance between them.
Tyler remained by his desk, still leaning heavily against it as he unbuttoned his collar, lost in thought.
