Chapter 450
“What’s the matter?” Tyler asked, his tone cool and distant.
Olivia felt the chill in his voice but forced herself to stay calm. “Um, I was told to bring you afternoon tea. Are you in your office right now?”
Tyler raised an eyebrow, already guessing who had sent her. He leaned against the railing, eyes tracing the empty hallway below. “No, I’m not.”
Olivia hadn’t expected that. She hesitated, trying to think of what to say next. Tyler added casually, “I’m at the hospital with your sister.”
Tyler’s frequent visits to her sister made sense of this, but Olivia still felt uncertain. “So… what should I do with the tea, then?”
“Just leave it at the front desk. They’ll send it to my office,” he instructed without much emotion.
“A-Alright,” Olivia replied softly.
Tyler ended the call. The beep sounded, and silence followed.
The driver glanced at Olivia cautiously. “Is Mr. Tyler not there?”
“No. He told us to drop the tea at the front desk.”
The driver seemed a little surprised.
Tyler stood by the window on the hospital floor, gazing down as he smoked a cigarette, leaning against a pillar. The loneliness in his posture was palpable.
Olivia stepped out of the car slowly, the driver close behind.
They approached the imposing Harris Group building. Olivia paused, momentarily awestruck by its grandeur. She made her way to the front desk, where a young woman in a neat uniform was attending to visitors.
The woman looked up, spotting Olivia immediately. “Mrs. Harris!”
Startled by the greeting, Olivia recalled she had been here before. “This is Tyler’s afternoon tea, prepared by his family. Could you please send it to his office? Thank you.”
The receptionist blinked, a little surprised. “For Mr. Harris, right?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll make sure it gets there right away,” the receptionist assured her.
Olivia turned to leave, but the receptionist called after her, “Won’t you stay for a while?”
Olivia shook her head gently. “I… I have something else to do. Sorry.”
“That’s a shame. Let me at least walk you to the door,” the receptionist offered kindly.
Olivia nodded.
As they passed through the lounge, curious eyes followed them. Whispers floated about Olivia’s special treatment, but she did her best to ignore the attention.
Just as the receptionist reached for the door, Olivia stopped her. “It’s alright. I’m just here to drop off the tea.”
The receptionist smiled warmly. “Understood, Mrs. Harris!”
